I've always liked Front Rank figures, loads of character, but they can be a bit static with some of the poses. :)

I've done a fair few of these myself - with a lot more still to do. They are a bit stiff, I agree, but have loads of character and excellent detail. A pleasure to paint, and you've done a good job with them  :)

It's a shame that for such an accomplished sculptor, the guy that runs Front Rank makes such a bodge of some hands... Look at the 'open' hands on your top two pikemen. Dreadful. And there are several other hands like that in this - otherwise excellent - range (standard bearers in particular). Just really badly done. He doesn't seem to have his anatomy right at all where that pose is concerned, and the relationship of hand to wrist to arm... It really spoils some of these figures for me :(

Now you have mentioned it, its so obvious. Its really strange as all the other hands look natural. Perhaps its trying to make the hand wide enough to accept a flag pole that makes it rather playmobil like.

Pikeman would wear heavy leather gauntlets, that's what I have tried to depict in my painting.
Maybe the sculptor has designed them that way. I do not think it detracts anything from the figures.
