Yesterday, my son Lewis and I had our first trial game of Combat Patrol Napoleonic Skirmish. Buck, the author had warned us that the rules were very much a first draft, work in progress, but we very very keen to give them a go. We were new to playing Napoleonics with 28mm figures rather than 6mm figures so their were a few unpainted figures (and an unpainted building) on the table. However, this did not distract from our enjoyment. We had a fantastic game. The results were believable and the rules were streamlined and easy to use.

Combat Patrol is a set of WW2 skirmish rules that use an innovative card based system for combat resoloution, but because the core mechanics are so solid, they are easily transfered to other periods. Their is already a free supplement for 1980 / Winter of '79 style gaming and 1939 Winter War. I've heard a number og gamers talking about using rules for Vietnam and supplements are on their way for Horse & Musket, Falklands, VBCW and many more.
