Models for Brits in Winter Gear?
« on: July 06, 2016, 10:33:31 AM »
I’m considering doing a late war Polish force for WWII, off the back of making Polish Home Army Partisans.

As the Poles visually are pretty much Brits as far as gear goes, I’d rather set them apart a bit.

I could just greenstuff on coats to Warlord plastic Brits, maybe stick on a black beret too, but are there any actual models (the Germans, Soviets and US seem to have plenty…)?

Falklands era minis could probably do as I’m not a major stickler for specific webbing, etc, though obviously only those using WWII weaponry.

I'd say it would be easier to use WW1 British in great coats, rather than 80's British.they are going to take a lot less work to give you a unique feel .(as simple as a little clay on the the lower legs to shorten the putties, and if your confident enough a couple of square off shapes behind the arms to change pouch types).

Could you make use of Gorgon miniatures early war British in coats and jerkins?

I can't seem to find any pictures to hand, but I was more referring to this style of heavy jacket.

...I say style, as that's an RAF one.

Though those trenchcoats could work too.

And to cut myself short, I've found what I want. Paratroopers!

Yeah, I'll show myself out. Hmn, paras would fit in with my partizans quite nicely actually. :)

Those are great models too, a pleasure to paint. Good luck with the camo!

The jacket is a Denison para smock, the wings are a glider pilot's,  not RAF.
Artizan I see you have found but look at the lovely Warlord Paul Hicks sculpts too.
