A good start!  I'm using W&N Galeria matte mixed with a little Tamiya Flatbase at the moment. It is really dead matte.
Painted:  2025:539; 2024: 410; 2023: 37; 2022: 56

I've never tried a brush-on finish, maybe I'll give it a go.

Nicely done Matt.  8)

Always good to see some DA miniatures.   I was torn between Darkest Africa and BoB Chinese for AP2016.

Maybe Duncan Ceramic Spray Sealer SS339 Super Matte might be an alternative.
http://www.duncanpaintstore.com/non-fired-products/spray-sealers

Used it several years ago and was satisfied

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give that a try as well.

Great start.  Nice lineny look to the cloth.

I shall say this very quietly as I think it a heresy as I have never seen anyone else mention it at all but when Testors changed the formula on the spray to rid the toluene I switched to Humbrol acrylic matt spray :o  Readily available, cheap and consistent.

I use Dullcote sprayed on with a cheap airbrush, best matt varnish I've ever used. Cost a fortune in postage from the US but it's worth it.

New dull cote is definitely a satin finish.   :'(
I have used my airbrush as well as a brush with the W&N + Tamiya Flat base mixture.  But if you can find a spray can you like that is definitely easier.

That's what I use when it's not too humid.

Those faces are so good.

I wouldn't call 'em boring.
Not within effective range anyway....

The war drums have been sounding relentlessly, frantically trying to summon all capable Azande warriors in the vicinity to battle. Over a month late... and they're here. Some of them at least...

My favorite is probably the leader with a 'Come at me bro!' pose. The head is a swap from a spare Azande warrior.

I've been seriously strapped for time over the last several weeks. I haven't even squeezed in a game of 'Congo'!!!
