Due to circumstances beyond my control it looks like 'Sahyun' fortress will not be at Salute this year after all. The proposed AoA Siege demo game is not now taking place... :'( :(

Shame, but at least you have yourself a splendid looking fortress that you might not have finished without the pressure.

That's quite right. There's nothing like a deadline to work to. I probably wouldn't have got as far as I have without the extra 'push'.
Still, if there are any fantasy/medieval gaming groups out there who'd like to use a 25mm fortress for demo games etc., plus 'tour guide' of course (within reason) ...
One of the great features of the Web is getting modelling projects 'out there' for other people to see. I've lost count of the number of truly inspirational modelling projects I've seen in the last couple of years! The BoB 'Save the Tsar' game for the Loughton Gamers a couple of years back sticks in my mind.

Woot, woot !!  8) :o

Anyone knows how those rocks were made? They look absolutely splendid, and should be something my meager modelling skills could be honed on...

Judging by the pictures, the rocks/cliffs are foam insulation draped with some kind of cloth or paper. You can see the folds and creases if you look closely.

Had a vague idea of it. The draping material could be both. Not too thin cotton cloth soaked in thin white glue might do the trick - especially if covered with thick white glue after drying - to smooth out the texture of the cloth.... hmmm.... sounds like an outdoor project I can let my daughters participate in  ;)

A last couple of nostalgic pics before it goes in the loft...

I'm now working on recreating the 'Rammas Echor' in a similar style. The Rammas is the circuit wall surrounding the pelennor Fields in LotR which didn't feature in the film...I imagine it as a little like Hadrian's wall, but with a fantasy twist. Its an excellent opportunity to use up all the scraps left over from 'Sahyun'

Ah, well - Belgium isn't THAT far away for a gaming excursion...  ;)

I don not think I would be able to pay a price covering such a piece...
