Well bugger me! What's gone wrong there? What brand are you using? When you said Dullcote I just assumed the spray of doom.  lol

Nah, I just mentioned Dullcote (the spray) to say I wouldn't be using it. I used Revell but as I said I think I put it in too thick. Similar thing happened when I was varnishing a floor! But I've had decent results in the past with your method too.

Just finished these three chaos warriors. Again my varnishing is particularly satin rather than matt, but at least I don't have to worry about greasy finger marks!

Really enjoyed painting these guys, though they took a hell of a lot of prep to fix pitting and casting issues. I've discovered I love painting dirty, oily armour. Really should do some kind of device on the shields, but I don't have any appropriate decals and I don't feel confident enough to do them freehand so that will have to wait.

Now it seems this will have to be an entire warband as I may have gone on an Ebay splurge. More champions to follow... And flagellants. And more warriors... And knights...

Gorgeous!
 :-* :-*

I think that I share your love of painting the armour.
I have not painted any figures for ages but this may be the route to go to get the mojo back.
Hmmmm...

Thanks. I can recommend the latest GW metallics - Stormhost Silver, Retributor Armour and Liberator Gold. Really nice to use.

Really like those. Might check out the GW metallics again too. The VMA golds I was using have a few issues so I could with an alternative.

I picked up Skullcrushed Brass and Fulgurite Copper at the same time and while I'm not so keen on the colours, they seem to be the same formula as the ones I named above. I think the other metallics in the range might be a different formula.

I shall have to take a look at them.

FANTASTIC! The Forces of Unpleasantness never looked better. Your work with the brush & eye for color are OUTSTANDING. VERY WELL DONE!

I don't feel confident enough to do them freehand

Says the man who owns the hands of Andrew Rae. lol Really fantastic results, anyway.

Thanks guys. Can't decide what to do next - either three Nurgle Champs (old and new) or some Marauder flagellants. What do you reckon?

It's been at least 4 years since I sculpted anything with those hands and I think I lost them. lol

Since I am just about to delve deep into a nurgle warband (and I have mr. flyhead sitting right next to me at this moment) I vote for the champions - It'll be interesting to see what kind of job you do with them.  :)

These are terrific!

I also simply do not believe you on the shields. They look great in their current state, though - would something like a ring of "evil writing" or some suitably wicked runes do the trick?

Wonderful! I also join the general scepticism regarding the shields  lol

:) I won't deny I could have sculpted something on the shields (that's an idea for the future) but paint and a brush is a different beast to putty and a dental tool. But I will likely come back and do something runic once I've got a bit more painting under my belt.

@Affun: I'm siding towards the Champions too. I look forward to what you do with Flyhead yourself!
