Wargames Factory - The Liberty and Union League
« on: 27 January 2009, 08:50:43 AM »
In my search for cheaper ways of entering colonial wargaming I've been looking long and hard at the Liberty and Union League over at Wargames Factory. For any of you who have not already perused the site here is the link:

http://wargamesfactory.com/league

Also read what LAF'ers already think here:

Personally I think it is a good idea, but time will tell.

In particular interest to me are the Mahdist Warriors (that look like a very good possibility of being produced soon)

and the Northwest Frontier Pathans

I am hoping to drum up a bit of support for these to be made, simply because I personally find them a cheap alternative to existing ranges. I am no way affiliated with the site and did not originally suggest the ideas. I just hope for them to be produced in the near future and thought some here may as well. Get going and pre-order some!

The more recent renderings look to have improved but so far they have not produced anything of a quality I would buy.

Couple this with the fact that I will never buy anything un-seen counts me out.

I agree with you, but I'm desperately trying to finish off my Beja army and having virtually no spare cash at the moment, these could be my only chance for the foreseeable future. Whilst I love the Perry figures, they are outside my budget, even at their reasonable prices  :(

Bugger, just read the Wargames Factory blurb and they are Ansar, not Fuzzies. No way I could start a new army. Oh well.

There are some good ideas on the list, but they seem to be having a hard time threading out the good ideas from the bad ones. They could have simply intended to get as many going as they could at first, although the site seems to indicate that they were going to reject/approve each submission on a case by case basis. They also have a thing there about trying to do original proposals that aren't already covered to death, but that hasn't stopped some people (I mean, how many late war German Army ranges do we need on the market these days, anyway?)

I do know that they've had trouble getting items posted. I've had two proposals in for a while (one of them for more than a month), and they haven't posted them yet, and I know I'm not the only one. Not their fault, just more response than I think they expected.

I posted a suggestion for Early World War 2 BEF as I have not seen much available , but am rapidly going off the idea as I seem to hate painting plastic figures . I'm just doing ten Catachans and find painting Lead much easier .
I might just get some of Musketeers figures instead.

I assume these are a given are going to be produced regardless of "support".
