Indian Scouts
« on: October 15, 2016, 05:59:55 PM »
Anyone know who makes Indian Scouts in 28mm, preferably matching Foundry miniatures.  I am looking for a few indians with a coat and/or hat that will look like Crow indians or similar, to act as scouts for the Army.  Need both mounted and dismounted figures.

Not the best picture, but what about the figures on the right?

It's from Old Glory and you get both the foot and mounted version
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

I stuck a couple of hats on the Galloping Major Apache and reckon they would work well as Scouts with a more appropriate colour scheme..
Fairly easy to convert to mounted versions given their poses.

The DMH offerings are spot on for Scouts, I reckon, but would be harder to convert to mounted.

Of course, you could just add hats to the Foundry offerings.....

Foundry have these 2 in their Old West Range, both come with mounted versions.

I would go with a mix of old west figs and add green stuff braids and maybe a feather in a hat band. The Crow flaunted their ties to the white community in their wars with the tribes they saw as invaders and the real enemies. Western wear was a staple from the 1860s on for them. Just remember no facial hair.

Dixon Miniatures do a kneeling Crow scout in scak coat armed with a Springfield carbine copied straight from one of the Osprey books.

He is a good fit for the Foundry figures.

I converted a mounted OG Indian to match him.

If you want me to do some Greenstuff work on anything suitable just let me know. ;)

Thanks for all the responses.  It seems there are plenty of potentials for dismounted but not many mounted options.

Thanks for the offer.  I'll be in touch.

Foundry do a pack of Delaware Indians both foot and mounted in sack coats, leggings and hats. With a minimal amount of work I would have thought they'd be your best bet.  :)

Thos Delaware Indians do look the part but I can only find dismounted variants.  Anyone know if they have mounted versions too?

Yup, there's a pack of three (ahem) but it doesn't appear to be on the site. A phone call or e-mail should sort that though.  ;)
