Samurai Castle terrain paper model WIP
« on: October 21, 2016, 05:45:46 PM »
If you are interested in building an affordable Japanese castle for your game or diorama, you might want to see my current progress on the third Samurai Castle Builder set.

This setup is trying to replicate Himeji castle (the set is modular so you can build lots of different variations) and I have added a couple of minis (GW, LEGO and paper mini) for scale reference.

This is printed at 100% and built for 28-30mm figures. If you print at other scale you can adjust for other figure types (50% for 15mm for example).

Let me know what you think.

A little progress update. I finished texturing all the outsides. This is what it looks like so far ...

(The minis on the ground are 28mm for scale reference).

Now I need to focus on the interior. There is a lot of space to be used esp on the lower levels  :)

Let me know if you have ideas or feedback!

Progress of the interior of the Samurai Castle...

This is the third (middle) layer

And the bottom layer (14x12")

You have the option to build in "fold-flat" modules. You can then easily disassembly the castle for safe storage!

Let me know if you have more ideas for the interior.

I do hope by the end of the month latest! Need to do the interior door parts and the some stairs and floor doors for getting from one floor to another if required. And finally the big check and instructions.

Meanwhile I am working on a little texture variation for the great audience hall (ohiroma) Wanted to squeeze that in  :)

Tatami floor texture sample (the one for the ohiroma will have the straight pattern)

And walls (got the long side walls so far) It involves a process of scavenging reference pics from the net and then reprocessing, mashing, color grading and sampling to get this ....

Got the build of the ohiroma finished. Let the audience begin!
(Due to me not having Japanese minis, I have populated it with the forces of middle earth  :D)

Built it with one official entrance and some manually added hidden doors on the side walls. The platform where the Shogun would sit is raised with a couple of layers of cardboard.

I will now focus on getting this baby production ready. Double check all files if anything is missing and then create the instructions  :)

This is coming together amazingly.

I could totally see buying this (assuming it's a PDF) just for the tatami and interior wall textures to add to other Japanese-themed architecture. Blade Runner-style Oriental futuristic interiors, say!

You know I thought you were building this and I thought you were mad or at least slightly insane but now I realise you are designing it as well and can not conceive how awesomely mad you must be.
This is amazingly executed, well done

The official price will be $10 and then there will be the release offer at $7.50 for the some period. Probably also make some discounts for the other two sets for the release of this one.
