I got in late and picked up a few bits and bobs. Sorry to hear this is going OOP (if that is indeed the case).

Looks like Matt has started listing the Dredd miniatures on Ebay along with the studio painted pieces too.

Was tempted recently to finally take the plunge and start buying up some Dredd some with a view to starting a bloc war project - quite glad I didn't now.

It's one of the reasons I tend to spend ages gathering/hoarding everything I need for a project, before I actually start....at least that's what I tell myself.

There is nothing more annoying than your source of shiney toys disappearing halfway through a project.

Really annoying, and I was too late to pick up some bargains from Warlord as well. I hope whoever picks it up puts some more work into it - I never got a chance to play a game, but I was building up a nice little justice department force, and a mutant/street gang.

Warlord Games never owned the licence OR the game, they simply distributed the game on behalf of Matt, who, as we know, has a tendency to get hold of a licence and use it for as long as he can.

As it is, the fact that the he passed on the licence renewal means that another company has been able to pick it up and will be able to develop a whole range of new products, no doubt to a consistent style and using new people with innovative ideas.

Now that would be cool. I wonder....

What killed me with Mongoose and their product was the running of the RuneQuest licence. Some of the production quality was dire  with pages hanging out. They were pretty decent in replacing the shoddy copies but the entire range being remaindered at fractions of the price months after me paying full price for them was infuriating.

Is there any definite word as to a new licensee?

Matt has indicated that another company either has it or is interested and that company may or may not be buying up the Mongoose line.

I'm hoping to see the vehicles that were never released.

On the Dredd Kickstarter page, Matt has said "As I said in the update, all KS pledges will be honoured. There is no legal countdown on them. Everything you pledged for is guaranteed (and has been sculpted, it is just waiting to be cast)".

Guess we'll have to wait and see...

Sad, but where Mongoose is concerned, not surprising.  :?

I was really on the fence about backing at all in the beginning, and how far to back if so. In the end although I did back, I got just two gangs that I felt were most likely to get done quickly, and one of those ended up having the number of models in it cut (which really pleased me, as you can imagine).

Now, I'm obviously really chuffed that the miniatures line I helped to KS has folded even before the models for it were all complete. Thanks Mongoose, glad I could help!  ::)
