[kickstarter] 28 mm early war Highlanders
« on: December 01, 2016, 09:43:47 AM »

I spotted this today on kickstarter.
28 mm highlanders, for early war/BEF type forces. only 8 days left and almost at their goal

While I really like the idea behind this (early war certainly deserves more attention) I'm really put off by the crappy photos. Added to that the poses seem to be a little on the stiff side and as aircav already mentioned the rifles are rather big in comparison...

I'm used to the ridiculous GW lasgun sizes, so they don't look that huge to me  lol

Any chance of better pics? They seem a bit dark and fuzzy! Maybe try taking the photos in front of a darker background, it may bring the tone of the Green Stuff up.

Yeah, I'm afraid for my money (which it would be), the proportions and basic sculpting aren't quite there.

The shape and size of the helmets look odd (the dome too high and the rim too small).

The rifles look too long and chunky, whilst the Bren looks too slim and the barrel is poorly sculpted.

The head and necks look oddly positioned, too upright and far back, like they're on parade or have just been startled by finding something odd in their teacup.

Overall, they remind me of the old Esci 1:72 plastic soldiers.

I applaud the dedication and work put in though and hopefully the sculptor will just go from strength to strength and future work will be far superior I'm sure.
