A very productive snow day: pics of models and terrain
« on: 18 February 2009, 09:34:06 PM »
I had a snow day today...a  glorious snow day.  I made the best of it and actually had some geekly accomplishments.  I've included a few shots here for your perusal.  All the rest with close-ups and commentary can be found on the site: http://geektactica.blogspot.com/2009/02/assumption-project-update-aka-my.html

A shot including the fences and rockpiles I painted today

a close-up of the rockpiles

The whole gang so far.

Now I can paint my last couple of buildings while I await the arrival of the Dixon minis   :D

Later,
JET

Hi JET
that's a great looking town you have there and I like the WIP pictures on your Blog - always good to see how others do things - there's always something to learn.
Are you going to add a "Boot Hill"?

Great painting on the figures too - they're Foundry?

We should have more "snow days" they're so useful for progress on hobby projects, I've only had 2 in 25 years of work - but then I guess we get less snow in the sunny east of England!

I miss snow days. They need to have those for adults too....

I really like that gang. I'm digging the "My Fair Lady" woman.

I love your scenery (and the gang, very nicely painted!)
I'm feeling very inspired at the moment, damn LAF!!
What kind of card is it that you use when constructing the buildings?
I've used balsa wood in the past but I can't get hold of it anymore (the shop I used has been credit crunched) and card seems much more cost efficient
I've read your blog and your town looks really good!

Great looking stuff. Well done. I like the odd colours (purple, blues, etc.) for the vests. Mine are more earth tones, but yours are a bit more brighter and creative. Thanks for sharing.

i use card when making my buildings! It's a little more time consuming than using balsa but if done right looks just as good. I use a thicker card to build the main frame work of the buildings and then use normal card from cereal packets and the like for planking. I'll take a few pictures of my town and post them up to show you guys next week when my group gets togther! So far I have three big buildings, 2 medium, a couple of tents, barn, livery stable and a church made up out of card so far.

Jet your buildings and minis are great as usual! What make is the lady in your gang?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the responses.  The project is really coming together.  I'm hoping to get a couple of more things done in the next week or so.  We'll see.

Quote
Are you going to add a "Boot Hill"?

I need to add some sort of gallows or hangin' tree.  We need it for one of the scenarios in the book.

they're Foundry?

Twelve of the models are Foundry.  The three larger Pinkertons are Artizan.

What make is the lady in your gang?

She's actually a Blue Moon model from their Americana range.  A friend gave it to me.

What kind of card is it that you use when constructing the buildings?

The card is just a dense thick card.  I imagine it would be very much like the cardboard you would find in a binder if you ripped the vinyl covering off.  I have no idea where one would buy it, even though it seems like it would be such a common item.
