Late 2017 possible project
« on: January 05, 2017, 11:31:20 PM »
Okay…

Early 2017 is filled with winnowing and painting of current figures plus beta testing a football (American) set of rules.

So –

IF I get rid of some 25+mm figures in the basement
And
IF my retirement income is good enough (should be as soon as OPM gets cracking)

I think I want to do some US Army/USMC/Japanese forces early war WW2 gaming with THW NUTS 2nd edition War Against Japan rules.

Wake Island, New Guinea, Guadalcanal, that sort of thing.

I have terrain from VSF/Tarzan as a start.

I need figures. In an ideal world they would be 15/18mm sized.

Are there adequate sources in that size to do this?

If not, I would look to 20mm or 1/72nd figures. Sources for these?

In NO WAY am I willing to go 25+mm figures. Or 6mm/3mm for that matter at this time because of current terrain available.

Can't help you with the figures, but just wanted to say congratulations on the retirement.

Eureka miniatures make 15mm Japanese and USMC (including cavalry and Filipinos for the battle of the Philippines if that interests you at all)

It looks like you are in the US though right? so this link might be a bit cheaper then

All the best with retirement and the project!

Hiya Glenn. If it was me, starting from scratch, I'd go 15/18mm. There's plenty on the market and it seems to be the comer scale - big enough to see, but with a relatively small footprint. However, I've been up to my tallywhacker in 20mm stuff for going on 40 years. Let me know if you decide to go 1/72, I've got an unbuilt metric shedload of plastic for Pacific theater.
You'll shoot your eye out, kid!

There are also 15mm USMC & Japanese (plus armour, softskins & artillery) in the Flames of War range - which are easy to get hold of.
