Those houses based on Duplo are certainly impressive. That's a clever use of them.

Great little street scene.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Thank you for the house skeleton shot. I can't get over how many problems blocks that size will solve for my own building projects. So much easier then working with foamcore.
Last night I went looking for Duplo at the toy store. The prices were a bit steeper then I was comfortable with. So I'll be heading to Goodwill tomorrow. Yet another thing to look for when I go to the flea markets.

Some cool modelling & painting there.  What manufacturer are the ladies of negotiable virtue plying their trade outside the Four Bells from?

negotiable virtue

That's a euphemism I haven't heard before. :)

Useful for politicians as well!

Genghis, thanks for the kind words about the buildings.  The three women holding parasols outside the Four Bells are "Rotten Belles" by Malifaux/Wyrd.  I liked the figures and elected to clean them up a little and use them as "ladies of negotiable virtue" rather than dead belles with no virtue at all.  The fourth woman next to the lamp is by Eureka... she came with another lamp, but it didn't match the lamps I was using throughout my city so I traded her lamp out for one like the others I used.  Richard

Ta.  How hard was it to un-undead the young ladies?  I like the figures, but am pretty rubbish at anything but the most basic of sculpting, the Eureka figure is a good pointer though.

Genghis, bringing the ladies back to life was mainly in the choice of paint.  There were a couple of instances where a dress had slightly larger holes than I wanted so I put a tiny touch of Squadron Green Putty on the end of a toothpick, place it in the hole and then smoothed it with the tip of my finger... no talent required at all.  They are really wonderful figures to paint.  They are from the days when Wyrd's Malifaux figures were metal... probably still around.

Cool, I'll see if I can hunt some down to add to my VSF civvies.  (And also probably serve double duty for some of my sci-fi gaming.)

This morning I finished work on a Ronto with a Jawa and a Dewback plus rider.  The Ronto and Dewback are Star Wars Action Fleet figures.  The Jawa is a modified Wizards of the Coast Jawa.  I used the WotC Jawa because the Action Fleet Jawa is much smaller than my 28mm figures.  The Action Fleet Dewback comes with a mounted Stormtrooper  but because Stormtroopers will not be part of my Space collection and because the Action Fleet Stormtrooper is too small, I gave the Dewback with another WotC figure as its rider.

Nice work on the Ronto and the Dewback. The Dewback rider is especially good. I love the Action Fleet figures. Been using loads of them for my Star Wars projects for years now.

Nice work on these pieces.I have them and more.

Could you not use the small action fleet Jawa as a child?

Dr. and Michka, here’s a picture of my use of Duplos in creating the row houses for my Victorian White Chapel area.  I’ve also attached a picture from my Victorian Gallery of the finished row houses and pub I built using Duplo skeletons.  As I indicated earlier Duplos provide a great skeleton for the construction of buildings… strength and true lines.

Ok
I'm going to say it
That is genius!
Consider it stolen.
Thanks

Michka, thank you.  I am a fan of your work.  I think the Dewback rider worked out really well.  I actually retained the bottom have of the Stormtrooper’s body, did a little carving and putty work on it and attached the upper half of a modified WotC figure to that.  I just finished two Bantha using the same approach… lower half of rider Action Fleet, upper half of rider WotC.

Manic_miner, thanks for writing and the kind words.  I hadn’t thought of using the small Action Fleet Jawa as a child.

steders, thank you.  I think you’ll enjoy using Duplos.  They make construction a lot easier for me, and the end product is very strong.
