Great output! I'm very fond of the Spacelords figures, and your set of Colony 87 figures is great! The varied paint schemes still work together very nicely.

Thanks to you both for taking the time to write and for the kind words.  I have fallen in love with the Colony 87 figures and gave them my best effort.  I'll be finishing the last of the second group of six today and plan to post those soon... probably tomorrow.  Jon Boyce says he'll be coming out with the third and last set of six this year, and I am looking forward to adding those to the collection.  I'm sure I've said this before, but when I began putting this collection together several years ago (the gathering phase of the project) I thought I would be building it around odds and ends of whatever I could find, but with Colony 87, Moonraker, Astropolis, a 40k oop genestealer and inquisitor and the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars figures my Space population has really expanded beyond anything I thought was possible when I began.  Thanks again to writing.  Richard

Some more very nice figures.  I've just started painting some of my Colony 87 figures and am shamelessly going to steal the red hat on the Trader dude idea in order to add a splash of colour.

Your Colony 87 figures are great. I like how you get that velvety-looking texture on certain clothes.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

vodka fan, the Colony 87 figures are wonderful.  I feel lucky that I have the two sets (12 figures) that I have.  I was actually nervous about painting them because I like them so much.  LAF is the home of some wonderful painters, people who really know how to use a brush.  I have come to love my painting style, but I fully understand that I am not really a painter.  I am more a paint applier.  I dry brush over a dark (usually black) base color, and I count on the lines of the figure/the sculpture to provide the character and depth to my paint application.  What painting ability I have I use on the skin tones.  My great contribution to the process is that I have become a pretty good dry brusher, and I take my selection of colors pretty seriously.  Thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to write.  I hope to have the last of the Colony 87 figures posted tomorrow.  Richard

Here are the other six Colony 87 figures.  Jon Boyce is planning to have the last “wave” of six figures available (kickstartered) this year.   The picture of the single figure is the Oathpourer from Dark Age… beautiful miniature.

Excellent work on the Colony figures, I need to get on mine. The color scheme on the minister is particularly good.

That Oathpourer is a cool miniature, I hadn't seen that one.

These are great. I love the advisor too! How do Colony 87 and the Spacelords range compare in size?

Dr., I look forward to seeing your Colony 87 figures when completed.  I'm very happy with the Oathpourer... has a certain Dune quality to it.

blacksoilbill, thanks for the kind words.  I can't recommend the Colony 87 figures too much... wonderful figures.  They are the same size as the Spacelords... look good side-by-side.  I checked to make sure before writing this.

Thanks again to both of you for writing.  Richard

Thanks for checking. I have Colony 87 (painting the priestess at the moment actually) and totally agree with your praise for them. It's the Spacelords I've been wondering about!

blacksoilbill, the Astropolis by Lead Adventure Miniatures are also great looking figures that go really well both in look and size with the Colony 87 and Spacelords figures. Richard

Yes, I teetered on the edge of grabbing them during the Kickstarter, but had already blown my budget last year. Perhaps this year!

blacksoilbill, the Astropolis are worth making a wish-list priority.  I'll post mine soon.

I just finished painting my Astropolis figures from Lead Adventure Miniatures.  They are great figures that have the same character feel as the Colony 87 and Moonraker figures… and fun to paint.
