That is just amazing!  Great looking model and a very effective paintjob.

Which kit is the Space 1999 ship next to it?

Im really enjoying this thread, im still catching up but really enjoying the narratives and what not.
Much like my own way of modelling and painting, everything has to have a story :)

Love that big Star Wars slug thing. About 35 years ago I was working at the Argos warehouse picking and packing all this toy stuff. I remember that the Transport wasn't such a fast moving popular item. It was probably quite expensive for not so much play value, that's how a parent would look at it. So that might explain why you don't see so many about.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Thanks to all for taking the time to write and for the kind words.

eilif, Overlord posted a picture of the Eagle 1 and the box it came in on page 2 of this thread.  I got mine as a broken toy at the swap meet.  It was missing a lot of parts and it was covered with dry mud, but fortunately that didn't stop me from buying it... the only one I have seen in at least a decade.

matthais-mouse, I'm hoping that this thread will offer a good picture of a lot of the items that are/were available for a Space-related projected.

vodkafan, I think you are right on target regarding why I have seen so few of these transports... only one I've seen over many years at the swap meet and only a couple on eBay.  I'm glad I got mine... $30 is by far the most I have ever paid for a toy found at my swap meet.

During a shop housekeeping at one of my local game shops, the shop crew came upon a number of very old and long forgotten Epicast Sci-Fi structures.  Because they were long out of production, the pieces were placed on the bargain table at 50%.  Lucky for me I found them before anyone else, and I am posting them here as part of my spaceport collection.

Great new structures. I really like the Epicast range, but struggle to source it in the UK. Your painted examples really are nice.

Thanks to all three for taking the time to write.  I'm really happy you enjoyed the posts.

axiom, this project has been a real process of discovery.  So much of what is now central to what this collection will be I did not even know existed six months ago.  That is certainly the case with the Epicast.   They made some very nice items based on the few I have found, but like so many little companies associated with this hobby they seem to have disappeared... what a shame.

Because this project is focused on a spaceport, shipping containers are an important terrain element.  I’ve completed the painting of the medium and small shipping contains.  The large shipping containers and barrels remain to be done.  The medium size shipping containers are from Reaper and some are HO scale containers I picked up on the bargain table at my local model train store.  The smaller shipping containers are by Horizon Creation 3D.  Because so much of my town is done in earth and metal colors, I decided to do most of the shipping containers in bright colors.  The large containers that are yet to be painted are by Reaper… I’ve included a picture of one in case you haven’t seen it.

The containers might be my favourite scenic items so far. I really like the colours you've used.

Love the crates. Great colors all around. Especially love those Reaper crates in the first shot. I have some of those but couldn't figure out a good use for them. It never occurred to me they could just be shipping crates.
