"Black Ops" Special Forces raid
« on: January 29, 2017, 08:18:50 PM »
A nice little game of "Black Ops" this weekend. 20mm Elheim Figures. Two 4-man JTF2 (Canadian SF) teams were to raid a compound and snatch  a Taliban commander.

Night time. Stealth rules in use.

The table: the Canadians enter from lower left (marked by Canada flag playing deck). Target in house marked with red poker chip.

Infiltrating:

One operator failed his climb roll to get out of the ditch causing a noise marker, but none of my guards noticed.

Random civilian drives by, but doesnt notice the SF soldiers hding in the shadows:

Marksman is starting to take out guards as the assault team moves up. SAW team in ruins to the bottom:

The fighters start to stir. A PKM gunner emerges to let off a burst but is shot down. Assault team quickly dispatches the other 7 Taliban inside with grenades and gunfire.

Man down! More Taliban emerge sending a volley of AK rounds up the street, knocking down the two operators. Return fire takes out the two RPG men before they can fire.

The gunfight in the street. The JTF2 team leader is trying to stabilise his two wounded while bullets crack past him (one doesn't make it). The HVT gets in the pickup and tries to drive off. I make him pass a roll to not back into a wall or other Taliban. A grenade from the UGL and a volley from the SAW riddle the truck with holes and he's slumped over the steering wheel. Taliban bullets hit two more operators and take several more casualties in return. Both sides roll '1' on their Dedication tests and both disengage.

The team can't confirm their kill, but cell phone intercepts later that night pick up chatter that the target is dead and half of the cell of fighters is out of action too.

Great AAR. Do you think the Canadians could have done better?

Great terrain and scenario James. It has the look of "I've got a bad feeling about this, guys....."

Great AAR. Do you think the Canadians could have done better?

Perhaps. Maybe if the Taliban hadn't shot so well and they'd taken fewer casualties.

But otherwise I'm not sure.

Great minis, scenery and AAR, CONGRATULATIONS! And thank you very much for sharing! :O)

Just an observation: Canadian SF teams in Afghanistan in the early 2000s usually had an operative armed with a scoped "standard" rifle tuned for medium range precise shots.

That is one good looking game.

I have been wanting to try out Black Ops for some time now. But for some reason I cannot seem to get my head around the rules. The various plusses and minuses really confuses me. But I guess I will have to give it a go and see what happens.

Yes they aren't terribly well written, but take your time and work through some small firefights to sort it out.
I found a really good player reference sheet somewhere, which helps
