« on: 02 February 2017, 12:03:19 PM »
On July last year, we played Hochkirch with 15mm using V&B rules

The Prussians were taken by surprise, so they start disordered

The first Austrian attack was en masse against the Prussian right, but the woods hindered their full deployment. The second attack was directed against the Prussian centre, but they lost a lot of time to dress their lines, spending two or three precious game rounds

At the left of the main Prussian redoubt, the Prussian cavalry counterattacks and the Prussians manage to hold their lines

In a few places, the Austrians have a temporary success. As night falls, the Prussians remain masters of the field and win the game. (The winning condition for the Austrians was to drive most Prussian units out of the field)

Van Nuys. The basing on those SYW figures really sets off the paint jobs.

If I recall, Volley & Bayonet allows for two different base sizes and ground scales: either 3" X 3" bases (half-deep for linear infantry, like in SYW armies), or 3 cm X 3 cm bases (meant for 6mm or 10mm figures) with, I think, movement and firing ranges halved. It looks like your bases fall between those two specs. Is that so? What are you dong re base size and ground scale?

It also looks like your buildings are a smaller scale than your figures, maybe 1/160 or 1/200. Is that so? Your fortifications look like they're 15mm scale, what about fences, haystacks and other doo-dads? It all looks great together.
You'll shoot your eye out, kid!

Thank you for your kind words.

We play V&B in 15mm using 4 cm x 2 cm bases for linear infantry with movement and firing ranges halved and it works very well.

Indeed, the buildings are smaller scale than the figures.
The fortifications are 15mm scale, as all the rest.

Nice terrain and well painted figures. It just seemed rather spoilt by all the markers etc. on the units.

Am I right in noting some Japanese and some American architecture in Silesia?

Architecture is Silesia versus architecture in our collections may not match but that matters little if our toys allow the game to go forward.  I agree the tabs on the bases - though they make the game flow - detract from the visual element.

But nice figures.  Like to know who they are from.  Also, may I complement you on your avatar!   :o lol

You are right! We had a shortage of houses in this scale and we used whatever we could find in the box. But we put them at the Far Western and Far Eastern side of the table  :)

Prussians are from Essex, as well as the Austrian cavalry. Austrian infantry is from Minifigs.
