Who're you planning on using those vehicles for? A generic Middle Eastern state military I take it?

I'd like to see that BMP-1 done up with improvised armour and a worn paint job, but nobody's shown one off yet on the Spectre page.

I am surprised they did not offer an improvised armour kit.

As an aside, I noticed Osprey has an Eiite series book related to a current European conflict due out next year.

Slat armour would be difficult to cast in resin, if the thinner pieces on Spectre's vehicle kits are anything to go by. Which leaves spaced armour - which wouldn't be difficult to make yourself - , or stuff like ERA - which IIRC Special Artizan Service Miniatures are considering doing a set of.

A set of spaced armour if made would likely sell, though slat armour would be more ubiquitous for militaries and more likely to sell. A kit to turn the vehicle into a BMP-2D (once the BMP-2 is released) would be nice, if they don't make it one of those by default to differentiate it from this original kit.

You guessed right - these are for Bazistan, the champion alignment flip flop nation of the Arabian Peninsula hence the mix of US, Russian and European equipment.

Maybe slat armour can be etched in nickel silver or stainless steel.

Oh, I mean the 1/35th and 1/72nd scale companies do it on etched brass. And Empress do their's in resin. I'm just commenting that Spectre's thinner resin pieces have had quality control issues is all, so they'd need to beef that up if doing a full set of cage armour.

And personally slat armour can be made with plasticard, if it is time consuming. However, a dedicated kit wouldn't go amiss - as most gamers wouldn't care about the nuances of specific kits being used by different countries (the difference between wargamers and historical modelers in other scales).
