Shieldwolf Miniatures Plastic Shieldmaiden Sprues!
« on: February 27, 2017, 08:59:19 PM »
Shieldwolf Miniatures has recently previewed the Shieldmaiden Ranger sprues for their upcoming dual kit which also includes melee troops. As always we have found the news and pictures first so if you're looking forward in seeing the sprues in this almost exclusive preview, feel free to check Wargame News and Terrain, the daily wargame news blog.

Big bonus no paywalls and subscriptions!  lol

Check the preview post here - http://wargameterrain.blogspot.be/2017/02/shieldwolf-miniatures-plastic-fantasy.html

These miniatures look very useful and must be the first realistic plastic fantasy female warriors available on the market and as with most high quality plastic kits this one is also tooled and produced by Renedra. I really like all the options, heads and weapons, to be honest like all of it. So again a top-notch kit from the team at Shieldwolf Miniatures. What do you think about these miniatures and for which games will you use these?

Compared with their previous efforts there is very little flesh on show. I think they look really interesting. Would suit an all female Frostgrave crew.

They look pretty good I guess you could add more fur or armour if you want them covered up a bit more, that's the good thing about plastics

I can't get over how they wear fur on exactly half of heir body. 'Cause cold apparently don't get to their legs and waist.

Figures with potential sadly wasted. If I want a female Frostgrave crew Bad Squiddo is still my go to supplier of female minis.

There is a mix of bodies covered neck to knee and more cheesecake bodies with bare midriffs and higher hemlines. Something in there to please everyone except the most extreme viewpoints.

I've had an all female unit of Chaos Marauders in the works for the longest time, using (the old) Dark Eldar female bodies, with added furs sculpted on. I even have some resin Amazon torsos for the purpose. But these would be perfect to bulk out that unit!

Watching with interest...

MUCH better than GW Chaos Marauders! ;)

But really VERY FAR from "realistic plastic fantasy female warriors"!!!  lol

These ones are truly realistic, and in much more dynamic poses IMHO:

For one I'm at least loving the hairstyles they've got on those heads.  :-*
Will likely wait to see how these scale with other manufacturers' stuff (like Frostgrave & Gripping Beast plastics) before planning their uses.

I really have no idea what I'm doing.

As I mentionned realistic, I meant the body shapes so not all big boobs and hips as usual with other brands. Glad the Bad Squiddo Games female warriors are mentionned as those are certainly cool but can be 'expensive' if you want to field larger armies and formations. The Shieldwolf plastic miniatures though offer in my opinion a satisfying alternative as they will be cheaper and also more easily convertable.

I'm quite happy with the way they have designed this kit with different bodies with variations of clothing and bare flesh. Also like all the included heads which will hopefully also fit other kits such as Frostgrave and others. So really looking forward in seeing this kit coming available for creating and kitbashing more female warriors for a variety of games and settings. Think these would look awesome with their War Mammooth and bear riders!
