Just found this company called Shieldwolf Miniatures which is due to release plastic modular orcs! The company is situated in the Balkan and is using the plastic injection experience and production capacity of Renedra. Northstar will be selling these sets when they are released on 17/03! I have added some pictures including the artwork and sprue. More information can be found on my blog: http://wargameterrain.blogspot.be/2014/02/schieldwolf-miniatures-plastic-mountain.html or on the Shieldwolf Miniatures websites including some rather splendid other miniatures as modular resin barbarians at €25 for 20!

I was excited but then the vision of the orcs turned me off a bit.  A bit too GW in some aspects.  However, I dig the long pole-axe etc.  I'd probably chip in to buy a box just to play around with them, maybe use them for bashing.  A bit...generic, but I'm happy to see another company getting into plastics - hope they release more stuff.  The sprues look pretty slick.

EDIT: Looked at the assembled pics on the link...definitely a pass.  :(  Way too big and wildly over-done looking.  But I'd imagine they'll sell plenty to the folks they're targeting.  The separate jaws look a little wonky.

My first thought when I saw them was that with the jaw, they look very much like the "vampires" from "I am legend" Movie. And since they are plastics it would be quite easy to de orcify them. Perhaps they are worth an investment. Thanks for the tip.

Understandable that they won't be everybody's taste as they are aimed towards the GW public but still a nice plastic set for conversions or building a savage orc army especially as the detail will probably be good as they are using the experience of Renedra. I'm certainly in for a box when they are released just to check them out.

Aye good thinking, pre historic vamire cult or shape shifters for a barbarian army perhaps :)

The new Orcs on the block look SPLENDID! I like their fang filled faces; AND their legs look TERRIFIC in comparison to G.W.'s bowed gorilla legs. EXCELLENT FIND!

They look alright, but I know that it will take of mental effort for me to assemble them. I'll probably glue all torsos upside down...

I hated the fleshless skull faces filled with fangs too large to close the mouth, when the characters turned up on frothers. Hate 'em even more on these plastic ones. Stupid design decision. But I wonder if something can be done with the rest of the body.

It's a matter of taste and liking but as Silversix mentions I hope they aren't too hard to assemble (such as sprue bits in tiny corners of the body such as the arm cavaties, just hate to clean those with a scalpel!) but looking forward in all the conversions and uses people can imagine!

I think they look ok. Kind of reminiscent of the GW Savage Orcs. I'm sure they will sell very well.

Is it getting cheaper to make plastic models these days? It seems like smaller companies are taking the plunge more often.

I'd be tempted to get some to temporarily sate my orc fix.

I don't mind them. The shoulders look odd and the double handed weapons look about as convincingly held as Mantic's orcs, sadly. I'd like to do them up as mutants rather than orcs, though.

I like the crazy faces, but the jaw join would need filling. Provided they are big enough, excess plastic GW orc heads are easy enough to get hold of.
