Sarissa Ghost Town Buildings
« on: 31 March 2017, 01:39:02 PM »
There seems to be a theme here 4ground have produced some derelict buildings and now Sarissa have produced some Ghost Town buildings as well.
Looking at the pictures I think I prefer the appearance of the Sarissa buildings especially as they have an offer on orders at the moment.

They look good, and prices almost seem a bit more reasonable.  For a short while Sarissa was charging close to what 4Ground was charging...while provide far less of a kit.  It was tough to argue spending a few more pounds for pre-painted material and detailed interiors etc.  Sarissa would do well to do some bulk kits.  I've owned Sarissa stuff and it's very nice, but it's prices have been questionable on occasion.

Those look very nice.  Useful for pulp gaming (as well as westerns) into the 1930s and even later.   :)

So you've built both?  How do Sarissa go together compared to 4Ground?

The Sarissa kits I owned were very very simple.  Four walls and a roof.  I assembled and half-painted a whole town worth in an evening.  4Ground, while nicer and prettier can be a real undertaking depending on the size of the building.  They're well designed but you're dealing with 10x as many pieces (for all of the added niceties).

Ah, thanks.  I've put together a few of the 4Ground kits and they're mildly fiddly but not hard.  Sounds like the Sarissa are a lot faster to assemble.  Looking at their site they looked pretty much vanilla to assemble but it's nice to know that is truly the case.  I went ahead and ordered the blacksmith's shop so I guess I'll find out soon enough.

What additions did you make?

Cobbled floor, anvil, work bench, roofing (tea stirrers and emery paper) signage (copied from somewhere one the net and sized to fit)

Yeah, the only ones I've had which were "hard" were the Train Station.  That's a beast and turned me off of other super-large MDF buildings, lol.  It's a box of like 4 lbs. of MDF. :D

Thanks for the warning about the Train Station.  We have been eyeing it.

Nice smithy.  I'll have to keep in mind the tarting of the kit.  Whose cobblestones did you use?
