Very nice additions for your city tiles.

Very nice additions for your city tiles.

Thanks, mate!

I like the offset road tiles at the top left and top middle. I think you may end up with some limitations in swapability, as opposed to all tiles with mid-edge exit points, but in a 3x3' setup it may not matter too much? The edge roads do allow for far more play space than roads that cross the middle of the tile. I could see the value in that!

I think that it looks a lot better with offset tiles, and I think there will be a great collection of possible layouts even with them included. They still have two mid-edge exit points each, and as long as they are put in corners (either together or in different corners), they will work.

(I know that I've mirrored a tile in one or two of these possible layouts, and that I've ended a road unconnected in one)

Truthfully, the full integration from any angle/space only matters if you have a limited build. If you just build and build tiles, then it hardly matters if you have some funky builds that only fit into a spot or two. You can certainly do more with some variety in the builds, and it looks more natural in terms of how cities actually get built.

I was thinking that a tile with these outer edge roads might be helpful for me too. It allows more space for a larger building to pop up here and there. I think I can make the idea work with center edge exits all around, which helps me as I really don't want to build too many more tiles, but need space for some larger buildings! Thanks for the inspiration  :D

I really like the idea of offset roads, I may have to look into this a little more, for I would like a little more space for my buildings.

I have had thoughts of making 2 x 2 foot boards as individual intersection, tee intersection, curves and straights, for a 4 x 4 table.

Since it is my birthday tomorrow (and everything above 15 hours on my flex-time account get erased tomorrow), I decided to take a day off to relax, watch movies and play with my toys.

Here's a test layout with all my city terrain, just to get an idea about how much I have and how much more I need.

I've built a flight stand for my spaceship as well!

That city is dead sexy! lol

Looking really good. Now you have to build more buildings to fill the holes!

The flight stand is fun. Now you can buzz around the city strafing the helpless citizens! Muahahahaha!

Those are looking great, I'm  rethinking the idea of 12 x  12 tile,  against  the 2 x 2 foot boards.

Yeah, I've got some scratchbuilt buildings that need painting and I've got loads of ideas. As usual, one needs more terrain than the table can swallow. Otherwise it won't be possible to create enough variation.  :D

I'm thinking about building a spaceport next. Not sure if 20x20 cm will suffice, or if I should go really big, with 30x20 cm base.

Strafing helpless citizens will only end with an ion cannon barrage from an antiquated AA-system. I prefer inserting and extracting small teams of infiltrators.

Those are looking great, I'm  rethinking the idea of 12 x  12 tile,  against  the 2 x 2 foot boards.

30x30cm will have more possibilities for layout than 60x60cm tiles, but on the other hand, one can make each large tile more diverse...

Your colony is coming along! Like the others have said the road system adds a bit more character, makes the place look a little more organic!

Loving the shuttle too! The design isnt something I've seen before in miniature and the painting style reminds me of the G-Police game from back in 1999, one of my favourite PS1 games. :D :-*

On the approach towards a Golgotha Prime starport by Oscar Falk, on Flickr

"We're getting closer. It feels like we've been chasing shadows ever since we took on this assignment... We arrive at one place only to find our target gone. I can't believe that we were at Victoria Asteroid Station at the same time as our quarry."

"Too bad we didn't find the name on the ship's manifest before the transport left. Fortunately we now know where our target is heading."

"Golgotha Prime. Nothing I've ever heard of before. It doesn't appear on the United Navy Star Map, and that is supposed to show every planet colonized during the second Expansion."

"Every official colony, at least. Something is off here. Our sensor suites are acting somewhat dodgy. I think we just passed a settlement, but our sensors aren't picking up any signs of life."

"That's odd. Is it sensor failure on our side or some kind of outer interference?"

"System diagnostics says that there is no problem on our side. Contact with ATC is clear, they are guiding us towards the starport right now."

"Okay, time to focus on our mission. Are you ready?"

"Ready."

"Let's go!"
