Modern house
« on: 12 April 2017, 06:28:17 PM »
Hi All,

I've started building a modern house. It will be quite big. Well, as big as my limited storage space allows me to build stuff. It is also fairly involved, which forces me to fit in the furniture as I build the structure.

So far, I give you the basement bathroom WIP. The shower glass doors are only dry fitted. Toilets and toilet paper holder will be added when the next wall is erected (!).

Really nice work! 8)
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

Looks nice.

There comes a time in every scenery builders life where one must ask oneself at what point are you not building wargaming scenery but doll houses. You are close to that line. But it looks damn nice.

Thanks All,

As promised, I've now added a toilet paper holder!

The picture also should give a better idea of the progress of the dollhouse, err ... wargame scenery. I'll make some concessions to gaming (and to my sanity). In particular, the internal walls will be represented by delineations on the floor (except maybe for a couple of secret rooms).

In case anyone wonders, the windows are opaque as I haven't removed the protective film yet.

Before you go any further and add an evil lab or dungeon, I thought I'd just doublecheck if it was based upon your own house, or a complete work of fiction?

 :D

I've thought about replicating my own house as part of a post-Apoc layout, but then I'd hate for the burglars to know where the punjii stakes and claymores are....

It's a complete work of fiction. I won't divulge my stash of arms or the entrance of my secret love dungeon! That said, there are a few elements that mimic my own house, just because I'm too lazy to look for inspiration elsewhere.

Anyway, some progress on the house, this part is Igor's apartment (the Butler):

The bathroom is done:

Thanks Dr Zombie!

Some more furniture. My daughters feel this is the coolest thing I've ever built!

Great stuff  :)

it's a very slippery slope though, be careful on how much detail you do and try not to get dragged into it all  lol

I agree, and I'm a bit worried as I'm now tempted to add leds everywhere, which obviously no one sane would envisage ;)

And now  some more furniture for Andym, and all other IKEA fans:

But also some more substantial progress on the structure of the house, now with a swimming pool.

I'll soon have to take a break. First, because I need to get back to work eventually, but also because I'm running out of supplies, in particular the tiles I'm using for the swimming pool. I thought I had two sheets, but that turned out to be wrong. Thus, I'm soon stuck with the build. I'm also waiting for mini-leds, and a remote controller for the lights, but this may take a while to arrive.
