Thank you kindly chaps  :)

The neffs will hopefully be out in force at next years Salute, and you never know, they might not go down in the first turn  lol

Right then, done a little bit more on the neff hanger but I'm going to have to bloody well complete some of the other multitude of items at some point in the near future  ::) That's the problem with building a planet from scratch, there's too bloody much of it  lol

I've just put a very light coat of primer on so it's a bit easier to see. I've got the windows to do, the roof, workmans 'sheds' on the interior, lighting using LEDs and Lego parts, walkways, gantrys, a crane or two, the floor and lots of other little bits and peices...

And the most important thing is... We're playing a game on Tuesday!!!!!  :D :D :D

cheers

More inspirational work, James, I love it!

A quick technical question or two: which program do you produce your drawing files for the laser cutter in? Does it let you do a pattern fill for the brickwork, or is that a layer (or equivalent) that you created yourself?

Thanks,
Stephen

Either Rhino or Autocad 2007 (2010 sucks). Rhino is more of a 3D package but we are using that more and more as the files we get for work are becoming more 3D based.

The brickwork pattern was drawn a while back for my Victorian terraces, there are 'fill' patterns available but they don't tend to mix well with the material thicknesses we have. Depending on the job I might do the brick work from scratch as it helps when including windows, architrave etc  :)

Game on Tuesday, game on Tuesday, game on Tuesday  :D

And just to prove you nay-sayers wrong, I'll be playing Martians against the British so nayh nayh nayh  ;D

Thanks for the detailed reply.

Ah, I remember Rhino from university days, but i suspect it's moved on in the last ten years!

Matching brick courses with desired windows/doors/etc and still looking like they are in scale is what's been getting my goat when I've had a go... but then I only have 2d-Designer to use as it's the software on the school system. I shall be brave and have another go...

No worries Rab  :)

I've made a blog post on the first neff I ever made (three years ago now). It's here on LAF somewhere but the post has a much better write up of the construction  :)

You'll have seven Nefs of various sizes. :o :o :o

Whose got enough Nefs to take on that fleet? ;)

Maybe the Norwegians.

And when can we get an AAR on that battle?

Oh, that WOULD be impressive, no? Great contrast in colors and designs!

Take a bit to get a proper justification for a row twixt Japanese and Norge, but that's not stopped us before.
Hmm...I would have to fly to England, but it may be worth it.

...

And to mysteriousbill - I thank you for even mentioning my throwtogethers in the same breath as these wonders.

Really, I understand they've actual precipitation, not this monthly short drizzle. I know Oregon is doing better than those of us in the landlocked center, but you're still relatively dry, right? You could actually feel like the Northwest used to be.

We've all gone splah on your work too oft for that to be less than faux modesty, though, agreed, James is quite handy...  lol

Wait. Tuesday. That's tonight! Could be happening now! Oh, for real time video. More to the point, audio of the cursing at the die rolls.

Bit more on the walls of New Victoria was done today, so that's three complete sections (minus slight weathering) and only eight or nine to go  ::) lol

The first shots show it finished before being painted. The white bits are styrene strip and sheet in various sizes.

And now three sections with paint on with a background, just to prove i have one  ;D You'll have to excuse the lines between the sections but I wanted it as modular as possible. I'm still looking into casting a normal, plain section.

The railway has had the sleepers and sand stuck on but I'm going to start the train before planting the rails. There's a few ugly bits here and there but hopefully they won't be noticed that much when you look at the whole thing  :)

I know I keep flitting from one thing to another on this project but I hope that you're following the sort of progress to eventual finish that is intended  :)

cheers

James
