Don't know how I managed to miss this until now, Mr Saturday, but this thread is brilliant - the creativity, the crisp painting, the conversions and sculpting, the standing stone, all of it combines to make a wonderful project (and I love that banner, by the way). I can't wait to see more of this, even though I dropped out of Warhammer Fantasy a few years ago - time is the problem. Then, of course, I see projects like this, and I think "well, maybe I can find the time again..." Wonderful stuff, and great work on the Savage Orcs - you make them look far nicer than the studio paint job suggests!

Why thanks Hawkeye, that kind of post really spurs me on to stick with the project.

Like most people on LAF, I think this is an amazing project. The conversions are stunning and the painting is fabulous. I will dab ineffectively at the Heroquest Fimir that I have, knowing that they will never look anything even a tenth as nice as this.

Do you know that there are now two Fimir Army Books over at http://battlereporter.freeforums.org/warhammer-army-books-fan-made-unofficial-f88.html ? An embarrasment of riches for the Fimir player!

Cheers Red Orc, I'm enjoying building the army immensely. It's very satisfying finally working on a project that's been rambling about in my brain for some years.

I've looked through both fimir army books, the more recent release piqued my interest, as it's based on the same background as my own army, that is the fimir background published in issue 25 of Warpstone.

http://warpstone.org/issues_pages/issue25.htm

I'll probably run a list based on the second book at some point, it looks fun, it's always nice when new material comes out for the fimir player, we're rather starved in general!

Okay, another fimm for the first unit. I must be speeding up, this lad was done in only a couple of days. I get into a kind of trance painting fimm at this stage. I've loved putting the unit together and painting it, but I'm looking forward to getting them done now, which all of a sudden seems an actual possibility. I think I may tackle the meargh next. It's only a single model, so I can lavish a bit more time on her.

As usual - a great model - beautifully painted and based.

Don't know how I missed this thread?
These are fantastic, the skin tones, metallics, bases and free hand work are excellent.
Really looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks Dampf, Frank.

@Mason, me too! My slow rate of production can be frustrating, but I can see the unit getting finished soon enough. 3 fimm on the painting table, 4 primed, so hopefully not too long till it's a finishes unit of 20.

After posting some shots of one and two fimm over the last while, I thought it time for a group shot of how the unit looks so far. There's 13 out of 20 members completed, plus the movement tray. Starting to come together!
