Well they fit in the the harlequin theme splendidly Paul.  8)

Oh, I am settled on that idea: They will all be 8x10 and stack neatly in an A$ paper box.
It is the exact concept that I need to settle on as I want multi-purposing as I will only be building one system so it has to cover all the bases.
 ;)

Having built some flat sand and small cliffs already on 22cmx30cm tiles (designed to fit in a PAPPIS box) id strongly recommend the tiles being smaller than the box. It is much easier to place them diagonally in end first.. which means there needs to be a little extra swinging room for it to reach horizontal(length). Fat hands need some grab room when pulling them out too (width). I have also discovered that flat tops (at least 4 corners) helps stabilise and support the layers above, or you need packaging to fill in the gaps :\ Again a flat topped cave system will be perfectly fine. 8)

Im all ears when your idea has germinated, but as we've discussed a 'boring' natural cave system would be the best. It really offered the most use from cavemen to future worlds. I imagine 2-4 start/finish flavour tiles would be cool, e.g. a Mine cart tile, a catacomb tile, sci-fi base/spaceship tile, along with the 'big' cave entrance. Scatter such as wooden crates/barrels could easily be fixed to the cave tiles, but other scatter such as mine carts, treasure, alien artefacts, explosives, generators, broken robots could fit into washer shaped recesses.. perhaps with magnetised lanterns/lights for the walls..

Thats my thoughts to add to the brains trust. ;)

Cheers
Matt

We are on the same wavelength, Bertie.

As for tight-fitting-boxes (ooh-err!)....
That is why I am going 10x8. It is slightly smaller than the A4 size which allows them to be stacked on a bubblewrap 'sleeve' first and then the whole lot are lowered (or raised) in the sleeve and you dont have to worry about fitting your fingers into any gaps in the box as you hold the sleeve instead.

Some shots of the I-Munda game from earlier in the week.

Having been sent there by their mysterious leader, Klaus Konrad Krakowitz the Blasphemous Bombast of Bull-Shatt, the Brotherhood of Eternal Sunshine have recently raided a mining town on the backwater planet of Upsheet II.
They are seeking to claim an ancient alien artefact that had been recently discovered by local workers in one of their workings.

Having driven out the local inhabitants using very some persuasive tactics, they have the thing in their possession when some Eldar turn up to attempt to spoil the party.

Unluckily for the Eldar the Brotherhood have noticed their arrival and are waiting for them...

The two groups clash at the old canal boat loading station...

...where, after a vicious close-range firefight and a few bouts of brutal close combat, the Eldar are cut down....

There was obviously a fair bit more than this going on, but those are the piccies that came out ok, so that is what the local pict-rag is reporting.

Oh thats a nice solution.  8)

Upsheet II appears to have that elusive creek!  ;)  ;D

The 'devils Marbles'(a place in Aust) look really good in and around town Paul. I really like them and your Sci-Fi outpost.  8)  8)

I have no idea who makes them.
I bought them from Dr Falkenhayn like that (plus the single addition that I converted to fit in).
Maybe he knows....

Freshly painted troops syndrome???
That is what I reckon anyway.

I thought that you would like that.
 :D

It does indeed, although in this case it is more of a sludge canal.

Cheers, mate.
That did make me chuckle.
Trust you Ozzies to come up with that one.
 lol lol

As for the outpost: It is coming together slowly.
I am currently working on some street clutter to 'sci-fi' up the place a little more.

Here is the first bit, although I have not finished with it yet, as I had an idea after weathering it.....

...those 'guns' wont be around when it is finished.
Virtual brownie points to anyone who guesses what it is going to become.. ;D

Great looking game sir. The creek looks right at home in its new setting.

Is it a:

A cattle herder?
A mobile portaloo?
A power loader?
A dredger for the Creek?

I LOVE that particular miniature. I've converted them into Firedroids for Dredd, a mining machine for 15mm Sci-fi and also into an Epic gargant.

Theres also the X1 Viper droid that would look great in your setting.

It will do as soon as I can find time to sort out all the other bits that need doing....

Coca cola vending machine?  ;)  lol

It may surprise you to know that you are not far out with that jest.
In a sense..... ;)

Not this time, mate, but you have gotten me thinking about making some other 'bots now.

Wonderful vision!

And....one of those ideas that you mention is ALMOST spot on too..... ;)

Oh, and maybe I should mention that another one was delivered today.
 :D

I know.
There are a few SW droids that I have my eye on at the moment.

Very cool.  I've got a few of those sitting around. I had intended to make walking tanks for a corrupted IG army that never came to pass.  There were some cool vehicles in that game that are now often quite affordable if you can find them.
