The dungeon of my dreams! Now with added skeletons!
« on: June 23, 2017, 01:43:38 AM »
I've always wanted a nice set of  dungeon tiles.
Now, Given that i just this week finished a degree in sculpture, I feel i should sculpt some nice 3d tiles.
But alas, I'm a lazy sod! Luckily I came across the TT combat dungeon tile set at work the other day.

I'm not a huge fan of MDF scenery and was sceptical, initially thinking these could be a stop gap or i could add texture to them, But after a couple of nights playing around with them i can honestly say that they don't need it.These tiles are really lovely and fun to paint.

My plan is to use these for my games of Age of Sigmar skirmish/AoS28, SoBaH and a heroquest homebrew campaign i'm writing right now.

Anyway, pictures!

Everything here has been painted with just model mates weathering washes, a bit of agrax earthshade and some grey drybrush, all on top of each other many times, on top of white primer.

In total this is about 4 hours of work.I have bloody loads of these to paint through but I'm having fun so far so hopefully i get a few more done before the inevitable burn out! :)

never trust a horse, they make a commitment to shoes that no animal should make.

They look very nice. I like that the grid system is VERY subtle, so you hardly notice it.

Treated myself to some nice undead stuff to populate the dungeon.
A box of skeletons and a box of spirit hosts.
Also got a darkoath chieftain since every good boy knows the best thing about heroquest is the BARBARIAN!

Managed to get these 5 painted in about 2 hours, a new record for me.I also don't feel that I had to compromise on my messy wash heavy style too much which i was worried would be difficult to do in batch painting.

Nice!  Reminds me that I really need to grab some more wedding cake toppers next time I'm at the fabric megastore.

Had you sent me a message two weeks ago you could have had 400 of them posted to you.

Well thanks, but I'm pretty sure I don't need quite that many.  :)  Took me a year to get through the last bag of a dozen.

Terrific! Were it not for the bases, that upper shot of the charging skeletons would make a pretty good S&S illustration.

Great work on the tiles. Good to see that old early-80s balrog too!
