Turnip28 project of Freddy
« on: June 02, 2023, 11:44:50 PM »
So I started a Turnip28 project too, because, like many of us, I also do not have enough projects. I really like the rural decay-feel of the Turnip world, I always wanted to do something in this style, now it is my time. The first step in this would be a starter standard ,,army", 2-2 units of Fodder and Chaff and the necessary 3 characters.
(I found an other T28 thread in the postapo section. While technically postapo, it is not really the zombies&miniguns stlye one would expect from that genre, to me it feels more like fantasy, thats why I sterted the thread here)

While Turnip28 originally supposed to be a bitz box cleaner, I quickly gave up fooling myself and started sculpting bitz for the Fodder. 3 bodies, 3 helmets, 3 backpacks...

...the musket hand is the same for everyone, it comes from my 1848 Hungarian project
https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=138150.0
which will be a great bitz donor for T28 in general. The bayonet broke during form making, does not matter now.

The casting came back:

Now I am assembling and green stuffing the soldiers (the shoulder joints need some green stuff, also some casting errors)

They won't have proper command, only a banner in each squad. A GW Dark Elf banner I guess. Yay freehands!

The Chaff are made from Zulu war British, some alibi bitzbox cleaning here :)  This is the pre-greenstuff state.

The characters are completely out of the bitzbox, 1848 Hungarians with head swaps and some WHF Empire pistols.

That's it for now, to be continued.

...and it continues :) Now everyone is properly assembled, greenstuffed, based and grassed. Time to paint.

Thank you, guys! I am also looking forward to see them painted, I do not want to do towards the usual black based scheme, I will use yellow and green. But, of course, lot of mud and rust.

Looking forward to seeing yours painted.
It is ongoing now, waiting for the oils to dry.

Meanwhile, some new sculpts. Brute, artilleryman and a new head.

Strange but cool seems to be the goal with Turnip28, and these certainly hit the mark. I like the banners a lot!

A great wonderfully weird Turnip 28 army.  The banners are really well done.

Those look great! Turnip28 seems to always display a pretty high standard of converting and painting skills, and yours are excellent.

I don't know the rules, but I don't think I've ever seen T28 artillery.
