As someone on the Warlord HP stated, there will be no difference between the Royalist and Parliamentarian boxes besides cover art and included flags.

Anyway, it's clever marketing: For picky guys like me, the boxes obviously give me only some options that need to be complemented by other (likely metal) miniatures: Marching and fighting models don't go very well together in one unit, and there are way too few pikemen (especially armoured ones) in one box. No nagging, just compliments to the sales staff at Warlord's.

At least, I'm happy to see those musket rests again.

I suppose if you are doing 30 Years War, the armoured pikemen are a must, but they are less esential for the ECW, where buff coats [or no "armour" at all] would be far more common. Likewise musket rests may have been common initially in the ECW but later on would have been virtually non-existent. Still, at least they are keeping all the options open.

As for the flags, I've already downloaded more than enough of those lovely textured ones from Ian Croxall's superb "Warflag.com" site

the boxes are ready now for pre-order. They will be launched at Salute 09 at the end of march. And there will be much more like Scots Covenanters an Cavalry to come.  Great news!

I do like these. Of course I want them for another purpose, Dutch vs Portuguese in Bahia. I've been dithering over the TAG 30 years war range, especially since I obtained a folio reproducion of Francisco de Brito Freyre's Nova Lusitânia, História  da Guerra Brasilica

Carlos - I think we're all waiting to find out. Will let you know after 28 March!

Some people have said these will fit well with TAG, Perry and Foundry (small 28mm) and others have said they will fit well with Renegade / Bicorne / Redoubt (large 28mm). This is probably just wishful thinking.

I'm hoping Warlord have pitched these somewhere in the middle so that everybody's happy!
