I just received a box of Perry French... which is a good thing. However it is for the Napoleonic battles, rather than the Peninsular campaign. However, I think I'm going to let it slide.

The "problem" will be that my British will have Peninsular uniforms (not much different aside from pant colour, and shakos and no coat-tails for the officers) while the French will be in later uniform.

 

Or, I could just make all the Brits in the Napoleonic uniform... but then it's not really reflecting what I want to do!

I will have a ponder... in the mean time, Isaiah Tongue has been given a bandana and will appear on here shortly!

If you realy want Richard Sharpe, how about using the head of Boromir from the lord of the ring games ?

I dont know if the head would match in size and so on.

I'm happy with Sharpe's at the moment But the idea is a good one! It'd probably be about the right proportions too...

If you're happy with the figures you've got, don't worry too much about the button counters  (I certainly won't be).

Anyway, a tiny update: I now have a box of Napoleonic French Infantry! Hurray! It is such a nice change to just clip the figures off the sprue and they're ready! There are a few opportunities to convert, but I'm happy to field mostly Grenadiers and Light Infantry. That seems to be what is on the show most of the time.

I will have to wait until tomorrow to put my pic of Tongue up, but he is doing okay. Just needs an arm band and a bit of gs on his other arm.

I'm waiting on a few more sprues from the Perry's: some more Riflemen, some Dragoons (possibly for a second version of Sharpe in swashbukler mode) and the Dragoon command sprue - basically a rather dashing Frenchman on horse for me to convert into a character.

I'm keeping this rathyer small for now as I want to work on some other things, but my goal is to have Sharpe, 4 other Riflemen, and about 8-10 Grenadiers, some donkeys etc. for an ambush on a supply train! That's the plan, anyway...

So, I haven't posted in over 120 days... better make this good then. Here's what I've done since my last post:



Mind you, this doesn't include the standard Light Infantry redcoats I've put together. But I am having fun with this one:



I will be finishing up my Sapeur when I get some bits I've ordered, and many thanks to the commissar for some nice pics, and some tips on his gear e.g. the billhook.

Next up, a subtle conversion. Simply a French officer's head on a British officer's body... I say, old chap. Why don't we take some of the men over there and show the frogs how it's done, eh?



This is a nice piece. Had fun converting him, and got to use the dogs Hammers sent me from the last Build Something contest:





Again, not a very extensive conversion. A French infantry officer's head on a Dragoons body, sculpted the medals. Sword is from a British officer. Really enjoying these interchangable parts.

So, what's next? Just putting together some more infantry, most likely. I'll be using Drums and Shakos if I get any games in, and might move my way into larger games at some point in the future.

slack jacket = green jacket

'alfer = light infantry because they only have (h)alf a capbadge (the bugle being the centre piece of the Green Jacket capbadge)

Great conversions, Christian. The Perrys make great miniatures and yet you've managed to improve them.
