Hi Folks,

most of you will already be aware of the news from Artizan and whats forthcoming. For those who aren't aware here is the newsletter amended and mainly dealing with WW2 and forthcoming WW1 etc.

"Hi, Sorry its been a while since the last newsletter but we have been working like mad on quite a few different projects that should start coming out over the next few months.Firstly we have 4 new packs of Panzer Lehr for the WW2 Germans, I have been promising these for quite a while and after a few false starts have got the basics done for them. I fancied sculpting something a bit different for WW2 and decided on some Goumiers they would be an interesting unit to game with and just to paint up as well, so I have done 4 codes of these.Find the Panzer Lehr here: http://www.artizandesigns.com/catalogue.asp?sub_range=2Over the next couple of months we will be adding in more support weapons and character packs across the WW2 range.

What are Goumiers ?

Goumiers were irregular North African tribesmen who were recruited in to the French Armee d'Afrique.  They had a reputation for being ferocious fighters, but also, hmm, "light-fingered".  They usually wore a distinctive long robe called a "jellaba", which gave them a unique appearance, at least on WWII battlefields.

They had a very distinctive and interesting look, Grimm, so I can see lots of folks wanting to paint some up.


Those Artizan figures seem to have a nice mix of Adrian helmets and Tommy hats. Nice to see the Tommy hats, for me that is the "classic" Goumier look.  


(I wonder if these would have got made without the film? Seems the way to get a range you are interested in these days is to make a picture about them. We really need to get a LAFer into the movie business to get all the ranges done we want.   )

Yes, they were.  "Days of Glory" and "Indigènes" are the same film.  I don't know why the title was changed for the English language release - a direct translation would have been something like "Natives" or "Colonials"
