Gearing up for my first game, some pics of my warband
« on: 21 November 2015, 01:22:27 AM »
Hopefully going to get to play my first game this Sunday and I wanted to share some pictures of my warband.  I really wish my phone did a bit of a better job taking photos of minis, but you go to war with the army you have.

The party consists of a Necromancer, his apprentice, a zombie, 3 thugs, 2 archers, two thieves, a ranger, and (of course) one zombie (who is lookin kinda hulky...)

Theses are all models I've had lying around from the two Reaper Bones Kickstarter campaigns that have been dying for some table time.

I'm super excited about the thugs! A grave digger and a guy with a literal pitchfork and torch!

Here's a pic of a demo setup I have of our table. Mix of GW buildings, Dwarvenforge dungeon tiles, and some home brew walkways. It's 6x4 so I have to think about how I want to section off the play area for Felstad.

And some treasure tokens!

Looks like you are off to a great start. Nice touch with the Dwarvenforge. didn't think of that. I have a lot of it.

Nice collection - both minis and terrain. I don't think I've ever seen dungeon tiles used as scatter terrain before. Thanks for sharing

Yeah I was thinking the Dwarvenforge stuff would also be good for the haunted huts and the library scenarios. I'll post an update after the game too to report about how it went :D

Thanks! Yeah the local Michael's had a nice selection of wood to build up those walkways. I want to hit them with some spray paint to make them a bit more finished looking, but for now they have been working great.

So we got two standard games in this weekend! My friend brought his elementalist warband: Gregor and his fancy lads.

Game number 1 was pretty evenly matched though both our wizards and apprentices died from crossbows and arrows. I had a slight edge on experience because I was able to cast a lot more successful spells through the game.

Game #2 was a big win for the Gregor. I only managed to haul off 2 treasures and Gregor himself took out two soldiers, my apprentice, and my wizard. he shot up six levels after that game and I have a new respect for elemental bolt. Luckily none of the injuries were too damaging.

I took some pics of the games. Here they are!

Viktor the Necromancer and his band of miscreants:

Gregor and the Fancy Lads:

Here's the setup for the first game. We were so into it I forgot to take some action shots:

Here's the setup in game 2:

Viktor's Archers get into position to fire arrows and grab treasure

Two of the fancy lads went right in to ransack a temple

Gregor and his apprentice Wild Bill goad forward the cannon fodder

The halfling thief Dirty Etzio found something shiney in this building

Inga took to the field with an escort of several soldiers

Viktor used the Leap spell to send "The Executioner" into the fray and block the Fancy Lads from making quick work with this treasure. Odds were against him however.

Viktor and his henchmen make their way across a walkway

Qunicey the thug makes a break for it carrying off a treasure

Some highlights from when we opened the treasure included an elixir of life and a Staff of Casting for Strength.
