Looking for useful KKBB "Supporting Villains"
« on: 12 January 2009, 10:34:54 PM »
Hello, everyone -

Relatively new to the board, but already having a good time here and seeing a lot of very cool stuff. Thanks for having me

I'm in the process of working on a 1960s-70s "Spy Pulp" project, and I'm trying to locate some useful Villanous types. It seems there are lots of good agents floating around, but that the KKBB packs of "Supporting Villains" (Jaws, Oddjob, that kind of thing, as opposed to boiler suited minions) are not as numerous.

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has suggestions for useful tools of the "Lead Villain", other than the obvious source of the Villanous Masterminds set recently released by Copplestone, or going the KGB route. Are there any other quasi-modern figures out there that would suit the stereotypical B-Movie mindset for the higher ranking bad guys?

Appreciate any suggestions you might have.

-Doc

Some can be culled from civilians in the Heroclix plastics or the metal Superfigs line. Grenadier and Ral Partha had some spy figs way back that might work, though they would be a tad bit on the small side.

Nazi officers can make good 3rd world dictators with a change of uniform color, along this line of thinking also check out Black Tree's WWII leaders line.

Dixon has some good Yakuza coming out that would be good for "You Only Live Twice" type games.
There's one armed with two daggers and sporting an eye patch that looks particularly villainous.
Well I've lead an evil life, so they say, but I'll outrun the Devil on judgement day.

Foundry Street Violence miniatures are god for these too. Especially this set:

Wise Melon would make an excellent second string bad guy. Loads of character.

Thanks for the replies, all. Much appreciated.

Bob -

You're right about 'Wise Melon', don't know why I didn't notice him before:)

Em-4 have a few handy looking pieces.

They have a great looking "tinpot dictator" (in the cops section of their future skirmish range) plus some handy looking chaps in suits (especially the John Major lookalike with briefcase), and remote control sentry guns:

Unfortunately most figures look a bit too modern for the 1970s, but some of the biker gang figures could probably pass as 1970s Hell's Angels.
