FiW Redcoats
« on: 29 May 2020, 09:32:20 PM »
Finished the redcoats for the French and Indian War and got them into the loft for a photo session.  Despite not really being a uniform kind of painter, I enjoyed doing these.Really fine and characterful sculpts from Galloping Major (some of these are helpfully available in 8 figure packs - useful as that’s a standard unit size for Sharp Practice and Muskets and Tomahawks- although I bought a 25-figure unit pack with a few extras).  Along with 7 Mohawks to act as scouts, that’s enough figures to get me started.

What I am really lacking are pine and spruce trees!

Fine looking figures.  A very good start - now just keep on going!

As to pine and spruce trees, always good to have lots of trees in variety but you can represent quite a bit of northeast America with just deciduous trees so don't feel obligated.  Now, if you want to go south, then the pine barrens do need those pine trees.

They do look good.

I have a couple of boxes of trees now all because of the F&IW.  They come in handy for other games too.

They look great - nice job! If that fellow with the axe is Magua, I don't think it is going to end well for those redcoats...  lol

Fantastic painting and scene setting for those figures.  :-* :-* :-*

I think you have perfectly captured the scene from 'The Last Mohican' when the Garrison is allowed to leave the fort or perhaps the relief force that is ambushed.  Can't wait to see what you paint for the Huron.

Thanks, that scene was definitely what inspired my photos!  I already painted a Huron war party - they are here
