I know this isn't the case, but for ages I was convinced wargames Atlantic was just defiance games reborn. everything seemed so similar right down to the box art
I had the same thought, especially with their earlier works like the skeletons and Persians. The style was very similar to old Wargames Factory, but much, much better designed.

I like the in universe approach taken here. I wrote from an omniscient narrator's perspective and basically described them briefly and then some bits and bobs I could think of.

Thanks. I know it is a bit long winded but I did not write it thinking to actually be chosen so much as just as a fun mental exercise.

The 4 leg design rather than 6 is an interesting decision.

Could WGA be using some of the same artists as Defiance Games did? That would explain the similarities.

That was my first thought as well!

The writing about these creatures will no doubt full of cliches, I’m hoping for peaceful vegetarian intellectuals living on a planet covered in ferns and deciduous trees, they will be sitting under said trees discussing Inigo Jones, and landscaping  :)

I'd vote for this! They're in the middle of Book of the Week Club and they're attacked by a load of heavily armed dumb humans.

Yeah, that might be what happened.

Humans as evil invaders is also a cliche at this point though.

They're not evil, just stupid. Is there anything that's not a cliche at this point?

I'm going for Stabby Picnic Monsters as my entry.

A planet full of soda addicted cockroaches. Now and then eating pizza and congregating in city sewers.

Same, and mainly hoping to see what other people came up with at the end of the contest. Here's hoping they have some honourable mentions for very nice or inventive stories!  :D

I don't know, but that's the point of creativity isn't it? :)

Is there anything that's not a cliche at this point?
