Those W-E figures look interesting - but I Hate those thick bases so a pass for me.  Though I guess better to have the bases than not, expect some effort needed to base all of my "unbased" 3D printed figures.  Still, bases Way too thick for my tastes.

Nice find if you don't mind the bases.

That looks like a great set War a monkey - can’t wait to see how they turn out. I fully agree with LouieN about liking Wakes work - I have some of their Fantasy 10mm and they are better than most others in my opinion.

Fifteens I’d imagine the bases can be lessened or reduced pre-printing (although I have zero knowledge about 3D printing) or hidden with basing maybe. I have some non-based 3D printed samurai and affixing them is an interesting problem (although one I didn’t tackle for long as they’re also too small for 15mm really).

I don't how the match up to other 15mm but I will soon find out and give my assessment the bases do look a little tall but I'll just have to sand those down, but that will depend on their actual height. If they hold up, scale wise, I will get some of the other sets as well.

As requested, photos of my 15 mm 3D prints - Ewoks.  Not sure of source but I use a local guy who either uses his own license to print or I pay for a license and he gets it and prints and then I pay for the prints themselves - pretty reasonable.  I think he had to convert everything to 15 mm.  Sadly, he is having some very serious health problems of his own so not sure if I will be able to get more work through him, I am hopeful both for his sake and so that I can round out a few things - like some more Ewoks  - and Princess Leia and Bib Fortuna if he can find them.

I hope he feels better soon, and makes his services available to others!

File or sandpaper take care of that minor detail.

I know this thread has been dormant for a while but I just want to note that I caved in and ordered the WE figures last year - though I only got 13 unique sculpts rather than 14 shown but I did get duplicates of 7 for a total of 20 so I'll live with it.  The pack adds a lot of aliens into the mix, maybe not appropriate to my 'original trilogy' plans but what the heck, still improves the variety and the fun.

Oh, and I am almost certainly going to scale back on the total number of figures - like way back.  Running a few games of FFOL:BB underscored the excess I have (in many other collections than just Star Wars) and has provided the impetus to act (first up has been Old West/Pony Wars).  Instead of 20 unit figures multi-based, probably keep it closer to 5 figures per "unit" individually based and try to keep all five unique poses - with some exceptions.  Heroic/Villain figures probably on larger bases so they stand out better.  Still leaves A LOT of figures.

On that unique pose front, that may 'force' an even larger reduction in the total because a lot of either the GZG or Brigade figures (forget which) use the same dollies for many different items in their offerings.  But if 'different enough' will keep at least one per unique pose for each code.

Yes, I expect to have a surplus of figures at some point.  But, no, I don't know if will be 'available'.  I have a nephew and his father (and perhaps a few of my nephew's nephews) who are BIG fans of the series so they get first right of refusal - and I will be dumbfounded if they refuse!  But if they do say no or only take part of the items, the balance will be put up on offer: somewhere.

And, of course BALM , we'd all like to see photos of any progress if there has been any, health permitting.

Hmmmm… don’t have photos but have made some progress so should probably try and document it. The project hasn’t died - whilst my pace can be slowed at times I’m continually ticking over. My biggest problem is/was that I’m really motivated by the gaming side and if I’m not playing (can’t remember when I last played against someone) I tend to wander and just tinker with any of my many ongoing projects. I took the WIP Star Wars stuff down to my local club but received responses of “I’m not into Star Wars”, “I’m not interested in learning/playing a non 40k game”  ::)  to “the miniatures are really cool but too small (ie not 28mm)”  :` I struggled for motivation.

 I was slightly deflated.

The time between then and now has been ‘interesting’ in the most pratchettian way possible (my hobby space now holds what’s left of my mums house - full doesn’t do it justice) and most of my hobby time/energy has been spent either in theoretical planning (good old brain), trying to sort and rationalise the “limited room vs too much stuff” conundrum of old or most likely on anything that catches my attention and I can easily get too.

This has eventually lead me to a question: Do we have a find an opponent service on LAF? If not is it possible? Surely someone in the South Wales area wants to play with my toys?  lol

I’ve added more infantry and vehicles, done a little scenery but mainly been distracted by revamping my Advanced Heroquest/fantasy in 28mm (solo) and trying to re-re-do my squat force (lots of sculpting to be done) to be useable for RT, Tomorrow’s War and a couple of others.

Happy to see any pictures of 15mm Star Wars minis that anyone has as it’s all useful. Have been thinking about ewoks seen on this thread earlier and an idea for a re-skin of the new PSC Vietnam game Nam’68 that I had. What do you think?

I think with the US as Imperial infantry or maybe Bucketheads and a mix of ewoks and low level rebellion as the VC. It came to me as I was staring at the rules and wishing for the jungle terrain I don’t have, yet have lusted after and planned for, for many a year. What if I just repurposed the sci-fi terrain I’d planned for Star Wars - I’d wanted it to be ‘jungly’ anyway (and sci-fi jungle is much easier than real). Hopefully this adds another potential game/use for this set of miniatures. I don’t think a huge amount would need changing in the rules just a case of seeing them in a different setting.

Thank you for the virtual poke with a stick - I’ll try an produce something worth looking at.

That’s a shame that the folks at the club weren’t interested (I personally find that attitude a bit mystifying- I’m usually willing to try a period that is outside my usual routine if someone brings the armies! Sadly, I’m a long way from South Wales.)

Re-skinning Nam ‘68 for battles on Endor sounds genius, to me! The asymmetrical warfare aspects seem like they would port across quite well. A couple tweaks might be in order to simulate stormtrooper weapon handling and make close combat more common to give Ewoks a fighting chance, but aside from that, you’re golden! An AT-ST translates as basically a M113 ACAV with no troop transport capability, and an AT-AT is a M-48 tank that does have troop transport capability.

Really digging this project, and I agree that Nam 68 would be a fun way to play out Endor!

I agree how the response from the other folks is crazy. Maybe reach out to those who are burnt out on 40K and haven't been showing up as often? There's bound to be some, as competition and merchandise driven as GW is...  lol

LOVE the poster! Two "Zub, zub's" up...! :D

Thank you Pattus, Herbert and Mike. I don’t think it would take much effort to convert - ewoks may not be the perfect opponent (low level human/alien rebellion pretty much are VC ) but would be great as little groups of civilians. I had thought to use Imperial army chaps (GZG proxies) but my friend suggested just using the stormtroopers as they are in the films (not worrying about the armour). I’m still undecided.

In terms of infantry I have a platoon of Stormtroopers, a platoon of rebels, a few bounty hunters, some Brigade Polish(?) as a small Pyke gang and some lizard chaps from AA (chewk?) to play the locals that are being exploited on my invented planet (no name or firm anything yet).

Thank you all,

Andrew

Found this post as I'm looking to move on from my Legion minis to 15mm. Still not sure what rules I want to use.

I watched a couple videos of Fistful of Lead:Galactic Heroes, and for whatever reason, it didn't grab me. Read that Xenos Rampent could work, but that is more of a skirmish game. I'm looking for rules for larger engagements. I might just stick with Legion, but they are also skirmish rules.

I'm seeing s TON of options for 15mm troopers and main characters, but not much for speeder bikes, at-st's, at-at's and the other various vehicles from both trilogies. I know I can look at the micro machine line, but they don't look that great.

Is anyone aware of any US Etsy sellers that have vehicles and are willing to scale them down to 15mm?

Thanks

acctingman,

You probably know Highlander Studios Space Pals and Minions (https://highlanderstudios.blogspot.com/p/highlander-studios-catalog.html) and Khurasan miniatures Curious Chaps offerings - which includes a AT-ST now I believe (https://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/planet15.html).  If you frequent either Disney Park in US, great source for Millennium Falcon and AT-AT (or was last I was at Disneyland Anaheim).  Brigade Models in UK (https://brigademodels.co.uk) can provide you with LOTS of 'stand-in' figures as well as speeder bikes, might not be perfect but many options.  Rebel Minis here in states likewise (https://www.rebelminis.com/15mmscifi.html).  And for 3D pre-prints JS Wargamer Printing is a great option (https://wargamerprinting.com/product-category/uncategorized/miniatures/sci-fi/galaxy-far-away/).  Many, though not all, of their offerings are availble in 15 mm.

For vehicles, Hot Wheels has lots of options - check WalMart and Target toy isles or look for them on-line.  Not everything fits with 15 mm but a surprising amount works, at least for me.

There must be a variety of STL files as well since I had a local man print a bunch of stuff for me like Ewoks and Jaba the Hutt but he's become very unresponsive I'm afraid, lots of health issues for he and his wife.

On rules, have you looked at Fistful of Lead: Bigger Battles?  Can use it along with lists from Galactic Heroes for larger actions.

For terrain, JS Wargamer above has numerous items and Tabletop Terrain can 'break the bank' if you want to: https://tabletopterrain.com/search?options%5Bprefix%5D=last&q=star+wars&filter.p.product_type=

No question you can do Star Wars in 15 mm.  And do it well.  Really, the biggest challenge is finding 'canon' aliens but even those are out there (witness JS above again).

Keep us posted on what you find - especially if something not mentioned in my response.  I don't need anything else but if it is cool enough, I might get a little bit more.

If you haven't played Xenos Rampant!, you may want to consider it. They call themselves a set of skirmish rules, but to me they are a battle set. When you have units of 5 and 10 running around on the tabletop, that's not skirmish in my book. Plus, the combat system is very attritional -- you gradually wear down your opponents. This is more in keeping with a battle set, not a man-to-man skirmish set.

Just my input. If you've played the game and it feels "skirmishy" to you, then you know what will work best for yourself...  :)
