Not sure that would be very visually appealing though

Great idea with the floorplans. I guess though you could build a section of the city with xps foam. As I recall it the roofs were flat so the alleys would almost be like ”trenches” in a big foam block. However, I will, some day, have my hands full with St Elmo, another foam adventure…

Sounds like a good idea. Following with interest.
I think it would work great for 15mm as there are kms of fortifications. Valletta would be quite easy to do as it all straight lines but built on an easter egg like hill just some alleys here & there. Cardboard buildings would work well.

It was all finished by the time the French arrived. Don't forget the Grand Harbour ( & the towns round it) as in Corsairs ( the legal ones ) smugglers, sailors etc.

The setting is also great for Victorian era Silver Bayonet especially with all the temples.

Being of Maltese origin myself I would love for this to be done.

A film on the Great Siege has been brought up before though but never eventuated. Guy Ritchie had the unfortunately named 'Jihad' movie in the works, that would reportedly focus on the action rather than the religious aspect of the siege. If his King Arthur movie was anything to go by I'm grateful it never got made.

I like Gibson's movies though there's room for improvement.  I love the idea of the Siege of Malta.  I just hope it's not two hours of constant blood and gore and instead has some robust plot and context so people can learn history.

There’s a rather odd quote from Mel in the article to the effect that the series “will be good for somebody”. I assume the Maltese tourist industry will heartily agree.

While I’m here, as no-one else has mentioned it, I’d like to recommend the novel The Religion by Tim Willocks, the centre piece of which is the siege. (The title is a reference to the Knights, who, it seems, described themselves thus). It’s very well told, though the author has the odd habit of calling individual Spanish soldiers ‘tercios’.

It's also the perfect setting for an RPG or 'kill 'n' swill' type affair where you pit Oliver Reed against the Royal Navy in a who can drink the other under the table game. Vale Olly!  :'(
