Horses for courses but frankly anything Mel does is more likely to steer me away from something than toward it. He makes shit films anyway.

I’ve been to Malta 3 times in the last 18 months, absolutely love the place. It certainly would make an interesting wargaming project, but it would be super terrain heavy and that would be my reservation.

Went there a number of years ago and was really captivated by the place. My plan was to do more of a skirmish game around the storming of St Elmo. It is really a Last Stand worthy of its name 😎

I’m sure you will do a brilliant job mate 👌

Are you using TAG miniatures?

Thanks for the trust!  :D

I have been gathering miniatures, books and information for some 10 years including TAG, Warlord, Eureka, Foundry, Old Glory and a few odds from other miniature manufacturers. I think I have everything I need, just need something to push me over the edge to get going. These days there are so many interesting rulesets and miniatures competing with the time available.

I too have been to Malta & loved it. My father was based there for part of WW2.
I also fancy a game or two (skirmish) based on Malta.
1) Grand siege.
2) Resistance against Napoleon's French.

I would do both as small scale skirmishes, perhaps based in the Maltese countryside.
It would be nice to make a Maltese farmhouse.

That is a great idea for a dual purpose game. A countryside setting would be relatively easy to pull off but beside Valetta I also visited the old capital Medina which had really cool narrow alleys. I could see French gendarmes chasing resistance fighters in that city  8)

It would be great to see. I just don't believe this will end up being made. Gibson does not
have the clout he once had in Hollywood. He has been down graded to do B movies and usually
not even starring roles anymore. I doubt he will get the funding for such an obscure event (for
the vast majority of today's population).

That could be done using dungeon type floorplans. What you really want is the narrow streets.
The buildings could be represented as blank areas, or photocopies of roof tiles.

Not sure that would be very visually appealing though

Bearing in mind that most of Valetta was built after the siege (it was referred to as the Sciberras Peninsular) and the St. Elmo fort was a smaller Vauban-style star fort. I read the Ernle Bradford book years ago and was astonished a film hadn't already been made about it. It's such an amazing story, I hope Mel Gibson does credit to it, because this is a case where history does not need any embellishment.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.
