PZL-50 in 1/72 scale by KPL
« on: 22 October 2024, 03:46:06 PM »

A rarity as a kit and even more so as a real aircraft. The PZL-50 was supposed to replace the PZL-11 but events moved faster than the Polish goverment. A quick review of the kit and more photos here: https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/10/172-pzl-50-jasztrzab-by-kpl.html

Beautiful.  Seeing this has reminded me that I have two Heller kits of a PZLP11C and a P23Karas lurking somewhere in my shed. They date back to the late '80s/early '90s when I fell out of love with gaming and thought I would get back into aircraft modelling. I decided to focus on "aircraft of the 1930s" as I find the transition from biplane to monoplane fascinating, plus there are some truly weird and wonderful designs. I think I also have a Heinkel He51.  The love affair with modelling didn't last ......

SJWi, those are all excellent kits (assuming that the HE-51 is the Hasegawa kit) I have always been a big fan of the 1930's "Age of Transition" aircraft. I'm still working through my air-combat rules for the period, they have made it to the Beta version. If you are interested you can find them under the "My Own Rules and other wacky ideas " tab on my blog. I originally started doing aircraft for the Nomohan Incident but things rapidly got out of control and I now possess aircraft for most major and many smaller air forces of the 1930's

Anton, I'll need to check the make of kit but could well be Hasegawa. Many years since I looked in the box. I'm currently starting to game the Spanish Civil War so lots of interesting aircraft types there.  Can you supply a link to your blog?

Thanks.

The main page is https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/

the tab for the aircraft models is https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/p/those-magnificent-flying-machines.html

and my rules can be found here https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2021/09/more-dangerous-ramblings-while-writing.html

scratchbuilding magnetic flight stands  https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2021/06/adjustable-flight-stands-for-172-scale.html

The SCW is a rich field to game/model. So many off-casts and civilian aircraft ended up fighting on both sides.
