Advice needed: painting Frankenstein's Monster
« on: 13 February 2010, 08:32:56 PM »
I'm trying to paint a pulp-version of Frankenstein's Monster, and want to go with the 'classic' green skintone. Unfortunately, every time I try to come up with a good color combo, I end up somewhere between Kermit the Frog and the Incredible Hulk. Anyone done something similar? Pics and suggestions appreciated.

Maybe like the original movie?  A grayish base tone, with a light green wash?

(the movie used some sort of filter, the makeup was gray, so I'm told.)

I have painted Frankenstein types in the past and I have found the best way is to paint as normal flesh and then build up thin washes of green and purple.
