I think the figures are based on the Richard Simkin print as shown here:

http://www.military-prints.com/indian_regiments.htm

In fact I'm almost certain that the Bengal Lancers are based on the Simkin print

This photo shows a renge of turban types for Guides:

Yes Old Glory & Foundry figures mix very well. I also have Askari & Castaway Arts too. They look quite nice mixed in too. I also have a few old Hinchcliffe mixed in. The more you mix the better your mixes look.

I mix Foundry and OG for both the Tribes and Guides/Piffers.

I use Sword and the Flame for the rules but suspect that T&T would do just as well although i've played only a couple of games under that rule-set
"Ho, ho, ho! Well, if it isn't fat stinking billy goat Billy Boy in poison! How art thou, thou globby bottle of cheap, stinking chip oil? Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou!"

Nice figures!

IMO the Guides should be the best unit in the Imperial OrBat. I sometimes brigade my Guides with my Gurkhas and a mountain gun for a Frontier Force Brigade, but that is a pretty strong force. The Pathans need more numbers or a better position to stand a chance against that one.

Yes they  were the cream on the Frontier , fast moving and great capacities , a very strong force .

Man I love those Willie figures.  I've got a handful of 'Em.

The Traditon 25mm figures are my favorite colonials but, they're pretty limited.

Guides AND Gurkhas :o agree, that is pretty strong. let's not forget that some of the less glamerous units were pretty damned good too though - 36th (Houghton's) Sikhs were pretty hot (I  mean good at their job, rather than attractive  ;) ).

When we play I find it is very easy to pile up the really good Anglo-Indian units - my players also always want Highlanders in there too! BUT you need a good sprinkling of other Indian units to even things out, you could even occassionally use an Indian Imperial Service Battalion that is a bit dodgy to make things fun. Another thing is good scenario design - often one of the pressing issues for the Anglo-Indian forces was to get back to their base before dark. So the Imperial forces should have a tight schedule to work to.

I've always thought it would be fun to run a convention game with the highlanders as a battalion right off the trooper from Portsmouth and then rushed up country, so they aren't aclimatized and rate the same as an Imperial Service Battalion from Hyderabad, meanwhile the Sikhs and Madrassis get the "British Regular" ratings!

But not tell the players. lol

I have purchased NWF from Foundry and feel they no longer seem bothered about older ranges, I have been looking at OG for both NWF and Boer War, their ranges do fit in well enough but the majority of my figures are Foundry.

Very poor attitude from Foundry and unless I'm mistaken they seem to have deleted the Boer War British after the last sale a few weeks ago. Great pity.
