Shiny chaos marines on big bases
« on: 03 February 2014, 11:12:23 PM »
Decided to finally finish painting my plastic marines. Here are the first 4 to come out of the sausage machine. A few spikes removed here and there but  otherwise straight off the sprues. I figure the one in bone armour is suitable to be used as a possessee since they are said to have chaos armour+1 instead of power armour in the Slaves to Darkness book.

Not so sure about the dragonfly motif. My freehand work leaves something to be desired.

Your composition is unique.

In a world where there is only 'war',waged in-part by Chaos Marines, the dragonfly motif transcends irony.

That's why they are excellent!

Thanks for the gander!

Nice work. Dragonflies are horrifying monsters - have a look at clips on YouTube.

Thanks for the good vibes Sendak and Von Lucky.

I think I will keep the dragon fly on all my plastic marines. Bought them and started painting them a few years ago and although they are not the sort of thing i would get now, I feel like they deserve to be finished up. The sculpts are nonsense when you look at them closely but on the table arranged neatly in squads they look quite good, they are certainly more cohesive than my other armies.

I am gradually psyching myself up to do the old Tzeentch renegades, with the fungus bodies and so on. I think they will probably need a much lighter coulour scheme though so probably they will end up belonginng to a completely different Legion.

Nice work. Looking good. I like the tentacle arm on the middle terminator.  :D
Your older style marines could fit into this colour scheme by the way. I reckon if you keep this colour for all the armour plates then you can go wild on the fungal/daemonic bits of them and they'll look great.
