Is the term/name Oldhammer (also spelt Oldehammer) a registered trademark?

Also can you use Olde Skool without upsetting fantasy gamers?

Are you sure about "Olde Skool"?  My dictionary has Old English spellings of "Scol" or "Scole".  I don't have a middle English spelling, I'm afraid, but a "k" just looks wrong if you are going for a medieval version of what I suppose we should call the "hippity-hop" phrase.

No-one has defined just what "Oldhammer" is as far as I am aware. Does it have cut off dates? or relate to specific versions of specific games. Is Space Hulk "Oldhammer"?
Need to be clear what is being discussed when you use the word.

As for deliberate misspelling words, that really "upsets" me, but as an English speaker and all round grumpy sod, not as a fantasy gamer. I despise seeing people who are capable of better language using words like skool, dorfs, purdey, etc almost as much as the hateful l33t craze.

As far as misspelling words, I would agree with you, but I want to be sure that if I start using these terms, I am not infringing any trade marks.

To me Oldhammer means fantastic memories of playing fantasy wargames with beautifully painted models and scratch-built terrain, Oh and loads of dice, wooden rulers, pieces of handwritten paper with scratchy stats and bottles of cold beer. Games that always over ran and FUN, FUN, FUN.

Take care re 'registered trademark' and 'trademark'

Something can still be claimed as a trade mark even if unregistered. See

Something claimed as an unregistered trademark can be followed by a T in a circle, whereas a registered trademark will be the R in a circle.

With the unregistered trade mark, and trading names etc in general, you can still fall foul of the common law offence of 'passing off'.

This reminded me of something I learned the other day.

The dog breed known as the old english bulldog is now extinct. Attempts were made to recreate it in the 70s, but as the original lines are gone, to distinguish this new breed from the original old english bulldog, the new breed was named "Olde English Bulldogge".

Here in the US we have devolved to having chicken wings and chicken wyngz, the latter not actually being a wing.

As far as I can tell, corporate marketing and HR departments in our country are full of people with braynz.
