It wasn't that bad actually, and remember each of the robots had individual stats. This was a skirmish game  ;D
I hear you... Wasn't thinking of them fighting as a group, just as a way to speed up handling if many of the units are heading in the same direction. We do it for zombie games, for instance.
Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

Cheers all, it is a good feeling to do and more importantly complete a project like this.
It's icing on the cake to also get to game it  8)

Cool game report. I enjoyed reading it and looking at the pictures. The exact right amount of text vs. images.

First Class battle story and clear report and pictures  :-*

Looks to have been perfectly balanced and not a bit tense!!

Great inspiration, thanks for sharing.

I had no real idea how it was going to go. On setting up the game everyone commented that the troopers had no chance, it was going to be an exercise in taking down as many as you can before being overrun. Then I explained about the shuttle and how to get it going. The looks from the players were "so some of the troopers might escape".
Then the firing started and there was limited success on either side, so the players relaxed a bit and could start thinking about tactics. The fun bit came when as the troopers were about to be overrun they had a brilliant round and I was starting to panic that the robots were going to destroyed too easily.
The following round saw nearly every trooper taking a wound or two and the situation went rapidly down hill.

At the end of the game one squad had killed 40+ robots and I tink it was because the players were able to rack up high kill rates that made the game a success.
