Natal native contingent flags?

a while ago I read (I forgot where) that the nnc had flags with them. There was no discription of the flags.

does anybody know how they looked like?

The flags are described as "small" and carried the battalion number and an emblem conveying nicknames the men had chosen for themselves, such as pigs, young bulls, lions etc.

Seems like this was something unofficial done by the men, and was particularly prevalent in the 3rd NNC. Unfortunately I've never seen an image of one.
