And the big boss himself.
I told you all I had to have this figure when it was shown picture of it at the kickstarter.
And having him now I can say he did not disappoint. Only problem is that I wish the plastic was softer for conversions and that he had some more poses.

Well done for getting them painted - some conversions too I see?  8)

Couple of things I found really helped when working with this sort of plastic:

1) File the mould lines away with a good file, and use a small brass brush to scrub fairly firmly over the area to smooth it again. Works a treat, I promise!

2) Dipping parts of the models into very hot water (I used a mug of boiling water from the kettle) and then re-posing them works surprisingly well. You can get a fair amount of variety from reposes done this way, but thicker peices take a while to get warm enough to fully bend (and then take a bit longer to cool and set in place). Again, definately worth a go for some of the poses (the Stage 2s especially benefit from this).

Are you going to build these up in number for Warpath, or are you going to do another team for Deadzone?  :)

Sounds like good tips, I used hot water before but I just thought this plastic was too hard. Which was silly lol.
What kind of brass brush do you use? Should I go look at a car shop or something like that to find one? Never used one before.
As you probably guessed I tried to use a file to file away the mould lines but it just got more "messy" so I decided that it would be best to just ignore them.

I just bought the figures for the sake of I liked their cool look and dont really know the rules. But I would like to expand the warband with more dogs and maybe one of those walkers down the line as time and money allows. :)

Yeah, it's a funny material to work with, and filing the area leaves it with a sort of hairy texture. However if you scrub afterwards with a brass brush, it polishes the area again leaving it smooth and clean.

I used these, but you can get them super-cheap anywhere like a DIY centres, tool shops, or automotive stores. My set are for cleaning car sparkplugs (allegedly) if that helps your search. ;)

With regards to getting more models, Mantic have just run a kickstarter which will feature a new plastic Plague troops kit (link). The kit will be hard plastic (like GW model kits are), and will come with five troopers including some extra parts, a heavy machine gun, a mortar, and dog all on each sprue. I think the kit is dues this time next year, and mostly mention it because it might be nicer to work with if you're not in a hurry for the figures. :)

Thanks for the info!  :)
Hopefully those brass brushes will be cheap in my country too.

I definitely check out the new hard plastic plague when they come out.
I thought zombies and plague were two different things in Warpath.  Nurgle like undead and mutants respectively.

You're welcome! :)

I think the zombie stage is the most "devolved" form of Plague mutation. From the original DZ Kickstarter:

Quote
In the aftermath of infection, many millions of citizens encounter the nightmare horrors of the Plague. Not all meet the same fate.

A handful survive, scratching out a living on the shattered remnants of their world. By far the majority are slaughtered, their minds and bodies succumbing to the infection.

The remainder are those who survive the first attacks, often horribly wounded and mentally scarred by the ferocity of the mutants. These regular citizens are infected by the mutating horror of the alien plague. This mutation creates the sadly familiar monsters you see on the battlefield, but these are just its greatest works. Far more common are the rejected mutations that have overwhelmed their host to the point of leaving little but a hollow shell of a twisted animal.

Officially these creatures are 3rd Generation Plague mutants. However, to distinguish them from the normal 3rd Gens who retain memories and skills from their former lives and hold a degree of higher cognitive function, these are coded as 3Z. They are bestial and savage creatures, driven by pain and hunger to attack, though lacking the fighting skill of the purer, more successful mutations.

Given their appearance it is hardly surprising that most combat troops refer to them as zombies.

So although they are essentially "Plague", they are mindless enough to attach anything really - even other Plague units:

Quote
If we hit this goal, we will write and publish rules for adding Plague Zombies to your two player game. The "Zombies" are a brutal new enemy that will attack both forces, even the Plague themselves! We will add a free digital copy of these rules in every pledge as we’ll include them in the Deadzone Compendium!

These combatants add an extra dimension and tactical challenge to your games as you’re not only fighting against your opponent, but also the horde baying for blood.

Anyway, the zombies are already available in hard plastic, and are pretty nice. I think they could have used a little more variety, but as I'm unlikely to get around to painting more than 20 or so, it seems a bit cheeky to complain about it much!

That sounds like a very interesting game mechanic. Also I would imagne there could be zombies from other sources at a later date..?
In any case I got the brushes and you were right they were cheap. Thanks again for the tip.
