1/56 scale Autocar?
« on: 31 December 2008, 03:55:25 AM »
Hi folks...

Well, I'm finishing up the masters for the German G3A truck and the 0-6-0T locomotive.  A request has come through though for a 1/56 scale Autocar.

An Autocar would be quite an easy build.  Just wondering how much interest there would be in this model.  Just so you all know..this is the same guy that convinced me to do the Sutton Skunk..so there is a pretty good track record there of going from idea to suggested model fairly quickly!

Pics of the new locomotive and G#A this weekend..

I Googled Autocar and it seems you could mean a whole lot of interesting and not so interesting things.  Could you post a picture?

I'd be interested, but only if it doesn't bump the Austin Putilov and Kegresse.

:-* got to get me one of them! Any chance of a Daimler Marienfelde ALZ 13 or Daimler Marienwagen II? Apologies for being cheeky!

They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....

Does that MG actually clear the armor in front of the driver to actually shoot out the front, or is it only usable for left and right firing arcs?

I will fess up - I made the request to Brent after being dissatisfied with my own attempt at a conversion:

As far as I can tell, the two machine guns are only set up to fire to left and right arcs.  The armour plating on the sides can be raised or lowered as needed.  They originally had Colt MG in 1915, but those were eventually replaced with Vickers.

Like other early armoured cars, the Autocar was a slap-dash affair, as armour plate was bolted on to an Autocar truck chassis.  By 1918, the car was obsolete, but still saw some action in defense against the Michael offensives and in the attack during the 100 Days.

More info on the Autocar can be found on Landships:

I was just admiring your attempt, Will Balie, in the What-I-painted-in-December thread.
