Our first FOW battle
« on: 01 May 2017, 11:14:38 AM »
We've played our first FOW battle, Abe has played it for  long time but for the others it was quite new. Usually I make a report around it but because we couldn't finish the battle because we were to busy learning the rules and I am quite busy at work I've decided not to do that. I did want to share the pictures however:

There sure is a hell of a lot of tanks on the table.
How do you like the FOW rules?

Tank parking lot. No manoeuvre. ...
I feel 1/10 of what was on the table would feel right.

Lots and lots of beautiful models. Someone has really worked hard to get that game together.

I hope you had a great time.

Nice big table, decent terrain, good looking kit etc but looks ridiculous with all that armour... but I guess thats the rules.  As long as you have fun thats what matters I spose?

When I was painting it, I was worried it wouldn't be enough but once on the table we discovered it was far to much but we decided to give it a try anyway (and with all the work I put into it I couldn't bare the thought of not using them....)
Also for learning the rules having this much on the table did not really help either.....

Next time we will not fill the table this much and will keep some reserves so that we can actually manouver. We did have fun though and thats whats really important.

The rules were fine but it took some time to get used to it

In the end, if you enjoy what you do, it is all that matters !

I can imagine it was a bit of a surprise once they were on table. Looking good otherwise though!

That looks absolutely crap... in my 'umble opinion.

Are well-painted models and scenery not your cup of tea then? Do you give many such opinions face to face at shows?

Wow!  A lot of work has gone into that.  As others have said the individual elements look great.  As a battle space it looks "somewhat cramped".  Like an ancient battle fought with WWII kit.  I've never played FoW so is this something bought about by the rules or simply a case of biting off more than can be chewed?

I think your vehicles, figures and scenery look very good.  You should be proud of them 8)

I just think the table is rather over filled. :o

Table and models look great.
My definition of crap differs from Harrys.

For the first game of FOW its maybe a bit too much stuff on the table.
I had the most fun playing FOW with between 750 and 1000 Pts.

Best regards

Really nice looking table and models. Like you said, next time try playing with about 25% of what you had there.

The vista of tanks advancing across the table in massed Napoleonic formations is a long-held criticism of Flames of War, judging from what I've read on various fora over the years. I think maybe they encourage it in their rules because they want you to buy more of their tanks than you have space for. :)

Admirable collection and table, however. I'd be happy to own them.

If you had fun then mission accomplished as far as I'm concerned. Excellent painting by the way!
