Victrix Greeks
« on: May 05, 2017, 11:17:54 PM »
Some test colour schemes for a long gestating project. Heads and a couple of the arms are my own creations, I had lots of casts made for personal use (including many parts not used here). I'm contemplating making these available for sale in the future, along with my own mythology sculpts.

Please excuse the images, still getting to grips with a new camera, new light tent...and recently switched to an iMac from a windows laptop.

They look great, and actually all of the colour schemes work (for me at least)

Look great.  Not sure if you are after opinions or not, but if you are:

For me, the red guy doesn't work.  The other three colour schemes are great.

The metal heads and arms - I'd have some now because I have the Victrix Greeks still in the box as the poses seem a bit "static"   ::)

Great work on all but the one on blue really stands out, I can understand why you singled him out for individual pictures.

Thanks for all the comments folks. Feedback appreciated!

Regarding the red hoplite - fully agree that there's something not right with it. I need some darker shading in there so will be experimenting with some washes, I really want a dark reddish brown colour, not necessarily red.

I'm a huge fan of Victrix and realise they are designed as rank and file, yet I too want to bring them to life a bit more... hence trying to make some dynamic arms and heads for them.

I'll be working on cleaning up the master casts now and creating some head and arm sprues. I have no idea how popular they will be but I can take a chance on a few hundred £ to put them out there in limited numbers.

They're all really nice.As they stand they look a bit like the ancient greek power rangers/avengers.

They all look good, though there is something that feels off about the color scheme for the red one.

Blue/White seems like the best looking color scheme though.
